[Suggestion] Hard mode for Pve
hm…just noticed that just downscaling doesnt work..was fighting 6 monster which were 5 lvl higher..still too easy
Take off zerker gear, roll a squishy class, play with the least effective weapon. There you go, hardmode.

Then you are on the outside of the difficulty curve that is this game is set up for.
A huge reason why I solo all of the time is for the same reason. I’d bore myself to tears if I kept doing things in groups.

Hard Mode? Okay, what would be the benefits of challenges like this other than to do them for bragging rights? Because if it’s nice enough, it’s doubtful you’ll see anyone doing anything but the challenges after a while. Especially if it’s items which can be traded on the Trading Post.

So make things so hard that people can’t do them? Then you would get complaints from the same people that the game it too hard.

well something a buff just for him so he gets mre dmg deals less and some other things like everytime u get crippled u also get 3stacks of bleed and immobilized
some reallly nasty stuff
but htere is still a problem imagine doing some hardmode open world events
some normal mode guys come by and just do the event with ease
youd still egt the reward and not feeling like YOU deserve the reward…
or otherwise you want to help an event scale it up die and end up helping less than someone in normal mode…
instances could be hard moded
(depended on opener)
the new living story always repeatable could also add a hard mode in it
but in the moment there are just not enugh missions for it
also some sort of title like do all story of season two (like episode 1 – 20?) in hardmode and achieve bonus only hardcore achievements in every one
like in gw(1) just other reallly simple things that ARE different than the normal mode achievements that we know
like a added hidden boss
in episode 1 there could be bosses
in part 1 near the water
in part 2 on top of that hill which u need to climb at first
in part 3 where the inquest hides

as it stands now there is not enouch living story to implement a hard mode that does function this way..
also a once your full team dies youll be kicked out of the instance would be imagineable or dies three times or something like this)
dungeons since theyre also instances could be hard moded as well
again a title for completing all dungeon paths in hard mode
AND disable the function to join a hard mode dungeon group
so your team has to achieve this from start to end
and if u buy a place of a few that “rush” the dungeon
then ud still have to wait untill they complete it.. which would probably take some time
there could also be a new weapon set for completing the personal story in hard mode…

But i bet you still wear you exotics ? So play naked or with level 5 white gear, and of course also a lvl 5 weapon.

Out of the several dozen times that I’ve sold P4, it’s only taken under an hour to do the path + get all of the buyers ONCE. It takes on average several hours to sell all four slots.
If you want Hardmode for a bigger challenge, just downgrade your equipment.

Out of the several dozen times that I’ve sold P4, it’s only taken under an hour to do the path + get all of the buyers ONCE. It takes on average several hours to sell all four slots.
You can run a p2, 3 or 1 around reset hours on NA servers and your group will fill very quickly. p4 was never worth selling due to the scarcity of buyers in comparison to other paths.

If it gives really good loot, it will be farmed. There will be a guide on that takes away all of the difficulty. It will be zerged to death. Which means it would have to be a Teq or Wurm like boss.
See Teq and Wurm for what happens when you have challenging content with zergs for not so great rewards. Now imagine what would happen if they gave great rewards…

I’ve always thought one of the main reasons MegaServer has been put in place is for this eventuality in Anet’s long term plan (some form of HARD mode that requires a drastic increase in zone quantity).
On the downside, it will further fragment the community and possibly make Normal zones much less active, but that’s not much worse than how it was before MegaServer anyway.
Note that all of the above is pure speculation on my part.

Yeah .. problem is in the end that people don’t want that because they don’t really want just the challenge, like they always say, in the end they want more better special mega-loot.

How is it impossible to have 2 Plains of Ashford zones (for example) that you can pick when you enter the zone (either by clicking on a WP in PoA or going thru a portal). In the Normal Zone, everything is as it is now (downleveling, ect.), but in the HARD mode zone, EVERYTHING is lvl 80+, can re-clear the map (with new titles, etc.) maybe some differences in the Hearts (or no Hearts like Orr). Enemies respawn much faster, have 5 to 10 times more Vets, increase the number of Champs add better AI mechanics and possibly more exploitable chests that require keys (or even timed events like the Sandstorms).
It is NOT technically impossible at all and there was NOTHING wrong with this type of thing when it was rolled out in GW1….I fail to see how it would be a bad thing (sans the population issue…see below).
Now I agree something like this would effect zone populations and potentailly segregate the population into “hardcore” players and casuals but cities would still be common hubs (and maybe you don’t do this with starter zones?).
My point was it is CERTAINLY technically feasible and the revitalizing potential of such an “update” is too great to just discount because you think it’s too much like GW1 or would potentially cause community issues (that could be worked around to some extent).

GW2 is NOT a single-player game like GW1. (yeah i know .. 8 player or so max)

They could make maps duplicated in smaller sections. For example:
Instead of instancing an entire Plains of Ashford for one person/group to do a hard mode/vanquish ala GW1, Plains of Ashford could be divided into, say, four or six sections maybe. You enter and vanquish or something similar in hard mode. This is not impossible to do, in fact the mechanic is already in the game: Personal Story instances. They just need to expand the area a bit. But those story instances are parts of the existing world that are instanced for a solo player or their whole party.
Expand the area a bit from Personal Story size. Create vanquishing challenges or other hard mode content. Make it so challenges perhaps can only be completed once (like vanquishing in GW1) or maybe once a day for max reward (like dungeons) so they can’t be excessively farmed.

That’s true. I think selling on NA is a lot better because there are SO many idiots on EU servers that sell the exact same paths as each other at the same time and just continuously undercut each other. Not saying it never happens on NA but friends of mine that play on NA laugh at me often times and compete for the lulz over who sells their slots first. I always lose -_-
