[Suggestion] Hardmode Instanced Open-World
I’d really like something like this. It would be similar to the gw1 vanq’ing system except we would actually do it in groups instead of slogging through with a bunch of necro heroes. I really liked the feeling that you were working your way through a map and making a lasting change to it, everything in gw2 feels so transient as the mobs respawn behind you or the event chains cycle backwards.
I’d like it to be tailored to around 15 players with the aim being to complete an event chain (could use a subset of existing events) rather than kill every mob on the map. That way events occurring at different points across the map could encourage us to split up and form back together to beat events of varying difficulty as they occur.
Some bulleted thoughts:
- Failed events could repeat but reduce your reward / trigger new enemy spawns
- Event status could be advertised across the map like fort status in the silverwastes.
- maps could be easy enough to be puggable but with optional handicaps (map wide effects, extra mobs, more simultaneous events) to increase difficulty and reward for co-ordinated groups.
- instances could be run like maps with very low population caps to allow unorganized groups to have players drop in and out organically rather than organize a large party through LFG and keep everyone on-board throughout the map.
Its funny, when I suggested this nearly 18+months ago I got shot down so kitten the forums, as people where all shouting about we need more people in the maps not less, this will take people away from open world content bla bla bla bla bla.
I think they should give the option to do this as a 5 man content, in HM, they could do it via a portal in LA, where you tell an NPC what zone you want to do etc,
But, certain events would not spawn, no world bosses, and no massive meta events, as this will lead to farming of said events which is not a good idea, as people will just roll x zone go do event, leave, re-roll.
