During WvW play all players know about supplies and siege items.
When you play you can very often see that enemy build few machines and left them after taking place.
In normal world without GW2 limit anyone could just use enemy siege as his and not waste more resources.

So I thought about changing siege management to be more important, not like “put, use, forgot”. Force to think if enemy can use them later against you and have possibility to save supplies.

First is new mastery in WvW called “Hijacking Tool” :

  • First level allow to create “Novice level” hijack items.
  • Second level allow to update items to “Normal level” items
  • Third level allow to update items to “Master level”.
  • Fourth level allow to update items to “Expert level”.
  • (Optional a) Fifth level allow to merge 2 same level items to one with increase quality to one higher (can’t increase more than max).

Second is new mastery in WvW called “Siege Hijacking” :

  • First level “Novice” give you possibility to use any hijack tool.
    • 50% base chance to hijack.
  • Second level “Normal”
    • 70% base hijack chance on normal sieges.
    • 50% base hijack chance on superior
    • 50% base hijack chance on guild
  • Third level “Advance”
    • 80% base hijack chance on normal sieges.
    • 60% base hijack chance on superior
    • 60% base hijack chance on guild
  • Fourth level “Expert”
    • 90% base hijack chance on normal sieges.
    • 70% base hijack chance on superior
    • 70% base hijack chance on guild
  • Sixth level “Master Teacher”
    • 100% base hijack chance on normal sieges.
    • 90% base hijack chance on superior
    • 80% base hijack chance on guild

Values just as example – should be based on amount of material required for specific type.

Hijack Item is Account Bound and can contain up to 250 charges. If one hijack fail player can try again. Option to hijack will be available when user will be close to siege. During hijacking by default best quality is used, you always can before hijack change it.
Lot of players can hijack in one moment but if somebody succeeded then others are interrupted. Siege will be unuseful for anyone after 10 failed overall hijacks (player will get info which attempt it is). Broken siege can be destroyed by anybody.

Next change would be with siege object. Siege will have hijack protection calculated from WvW player level (player which put siege).
There can be 3 modifiers:
Hijacking player level is below 50% of player which put siege then minus 50% chance.
Hijacking player level is below 90% of player which put siege then minus 20% chance.
Hijacking player level is higher than 50% of player which put siege then hijack chance + 20%.

Examples:
Player which put siege have 300 level.
Hijacking player level 150 and below : -50% chance.
Hijacking player level 270 and above 150 : – 20% chance.
Hijacking player level 450 and above : + 20% chance.

Another change to siege will allow siege owner to set type from few available:

  • Default
    • This mode will work like current sieges. So siege remain until destroyed.
    • Siege can be used.
    • Can be hijacked and used by enemy.
  • Destroy
    • This mode will allow player to destroy their siege similar like it would be owned by enemy. So owner and friends need to destroy it.
    • Player can use siege but after change friends can start destroying it.
    • Can be hijacked and used by enemy.
  • Trap
    • Booby-trap siege – next person which will use siege (enemy or friend) will cause to siege explosion. Even if owner will try to change mode back.
    • When set player will be removed from siege.
  • Protect
    • Siege will have extra 10% hijack chance debuff for 30min. After 30min default mode will be back.
    • Player can normally use siege.
    • Can be hijacked and used by enemy.

Just as example, probably somebody will have better options as even Im not so sure here.

New keep/castle/camp option for tactivator:
- When player pull level all sieges on zone will be destroyed so enemy wont be able to take them. It only for stationary, golem can be in zone and wont be destroyed – need to be secured by players themself. If enabled (just by selecting this option) add extra 10% to hijack protection for all sieges in zone.
(I know that trolls can use it to destroyed all sieges, for example in SM – but without logs who pulled it – it should be used with caution – still better is not to leave SM with ton of superior arrow carts and trebs for enemy. But there is more better cases.)

I know that there is still lot of open questions but it will be great to discuss it here.

Recipe for hijack tool:

  • Hijack base (novice, normal, master, expert)
    • Recipe Available from WvW npc
    • TBD, but for example:
      • 10 Mithril ingot
      • 10 Soft wood planks
      • 10 Wool
      • Base bought from npc for 5 silver or WvW currency.
  • Siege recipe (golem, treb, cata, superior, guild etc – each type have own recipe)
    • Available from WvW npc
  • Buliding materials during crafting
    • Player need to have required amount. ( He can take them from any supply.)
  • (Optional a) Quality modifier which will be granted during crafting :
    • Modifier: Poor =50% , Normal =85%, Great =100% owerall hacking chance.

One hijack store pack – will be available for user from npc right after unlocking mastery – (one slot in inventory) will contain all hijack tool types and qualities.

Pros for Arena Net:

  • Next Mastery for players.
  • Materials used for tool will be used.
  • Possibility to add anitmation skins for hijacking.
  • Possibility for new food/buf/utility for players.

Pros for Players:

  • More challenging playstyle in WvW.
  • Possibility to reuse enemy siege and save supplies.
  • Fights more challenging if in lord room during fight enemy will hijack your superior arrow cart or you will hijack his omega golem.
