Here’s how you (the player) should make a suggestion here on the forums. This is for the benefit of your fellow gamers, and the devs as well.
Bullets
1. Before posting, think long and hard about your idea.
2. Ask yourself: Does it fit within the scope of the game?
3. Find a way to distill the idea into a list or series of concise bullet points, like this one!
4. The devs LOVE bullet points.
5. They can read these all day without getting a headache.
6. If your idea is well-formed, it should easily fit into bullet points.
7. These make it easy for devs to sit down and address each point one at a time to see if they can make the idea work for GW2.
Paragraphs
Sometimes you have a short anecdote or a hypothetical example you need to hash out. Sometimes an idea needs more than just a bullet point to become clear. That’s when you break up the bullet points with a short paragraph, like this one. Keep paragraphs limited to between 4 and 6 sentences.
If you need to write more than 6 sentences, start a new paragraph, like this. This really goes a long way to helping people visually consume the information you are trying to give them. If you write everything in one big long jumble, you tend to lose your audience. That’s where the TL;DR comes from. The last thing you want when trying to convince people is for them to go cross-eyed trying to read your giant wall of text.
Formatting
Lastly, you can use some formatting to make your post nice and pretty. A pretty post will attract more attention and higher respect for your idea. On the other hand, if it looks like your cat wrote your post when he walked across your keyboard, people tend to shy away from your idea. Check out this link for all of the nifty formatting options. If you really believe your suggestion is worth it, why not put in the effort? This is as much about respecting your readers as it is about self respect.
