Yes, I would love that here as well. The spam from the same posters is getting out of hand.
The forums are basically a black box to ArenaNet. If the functionality isn’t already there, they can’t add it without completely changing it.
If you want to make people invisible, use a browser that supports addons, then make one.
While the irony level is huge, I do agree with the idea. Has been suggested numerous times though seems to require a rewrite of the forum code.
Don’t think it’s possible. They said they don’t have a relationship with the original designer of this forum and that they don’t have people with the knowledge on how to modify it to make more than basic changes.

The CoH forums had something like this. You’d see a line that said there was a post by a blocked user, but you had to click it to see the post.
The problem is that in a busy thread, you’ll get people quoting each other, and thanks to that you see the person’s posts anyway. It was less effective than we’d hoped.

I’m all for free speech, but once a user has proven he or she spouts the same nonsense, over and over again, it would be nice to have some kind of blocking system. Something like we have in-game. Yes, I know I can just skip the poster’s response, and yes, delete the private messages they send, but I would appreciate some kind of ‘ignore user’ addition to these forums.
Again, I’m all for civil debate, but some users have proven they just want to voice their agenda ad nauseum, thump their chests, or just prod the community with flames.
Please add some kind of blocking or ignore system to these forums. It might help keep things a little more civil, and a little less arrogant, around these parts.

I mean coomon … if a poster is trying to lower the price of the x-pack
by creating threads over threads ,
and later on he say : all the new players that see this bad bad publicity and run away , what can i make of it ?
(dont care about the price -dont have any cent few months now-but i think that that they removed the Armor Sets from the gem shop and will offer them ingame for that purpose)
Can i make him fool in the forums ?
Can i overlook the fact , that is a GW1 player ?

Terrible suggestion. It’s a game forums! Everyone would ignore everybody, eventually. People would view a thread and see people reply to “ghosts”.
What would be nice is an upvote – downvote item where Reply/postings would be either brighter, or dimmer,
(Much like that other game’s forums.)
To be honest… I rather they just fix the search function.

There is already an upvote system by clicking the +1. I think it is kind of busted now as well though because it used to show a thumbs up when a certain amount of people clicked the +1 but I have not seen that in a while so I think it is broken as well.
As for the broken search function that is addressed in my earlier post with the link.
The tl;dr is Anet no longer has a working relationship with the contractor that developed this forum. They can’t fix it on their own but are considering other options for forum software at some point.
