Many people are very unhappy with the few recent versions of hairstyles, especially Asura. The possibilities are endless, and yet we seem to only get things that most people, well, hate. I know the devs try make the hairs ‘Asura like’ lore wise and keep a certain style, but I and many other think there can be ways to keep that but also make hairstyles people would like. A lot of humanoid hairstyles can work, instead of crazy ones no one will probably ever wear or use.

I know Hairstyles aren’t the main priority of Anet and that’s good, but when they DO put resources in hairstyles/faces, why not listen to their players and give them what we want? There are so many good concept arts out there and I am sure the artists in Anet are talented enough and can make amazing hairstyles, and yet we get things that concept wise might be cool, but practically not many likes.

I’d be down for more beards and hair of any race. Fashion Wars needs more options and fashion since you know…it’s a cosmetic based endgame.

Oh my goodness! Those concept pieces of art for differing hairstyles, if those were actual options just squee I would be so excited and totally go ham on buy kits for hair and looks. Especially the asuran ones! I would make more asura but I like to have looks unique to each character and I have exhausted the looks that I like (from the not so various selection of good choices) because I don’t like to duplicate hairstyles! So yes, if there were more choices, better choices, much better choices, like the example given … then I would totally be making more characters and changing some of the hairstyles, and the possibilities go on!

Oooo! Is this a thing! Are those actual hairstyles they are thinking about? I love the charr ones and the asuran ones definitely intrigue me into making asura. They are just so weird as it is, but if the hair choices and the looks were better than what they are now then I would probably make more characters on GW2. I love the game, but I just feel like other games offer more for those who want to spend their time playing fashion wars as OfTheFunk put it.

One of these days someone will make one of these posts where they say, “I am unhappy with…” instead of, “many people are unhappy with…” and, “I hate…” instead of, “everyone hates…”

….But not today apparently.

YES PLEASE! I AM BEGGING YOU! Please make the outfits fittable the varying types of races you have in your game and genders! I love certain outfits or atleast the concepts of them but then when the outfit is the exact same for male and female asura or charr, I just feel so let down and disappointed. It seriously breaks my heart. Especially since the asura are so adorable (atleast some of them) and the charr are so cool and just, there’s so much you can do with them, Anet and yet you let them down because of… well I don’t know the reason. I know people’s opinions but I like to try and give you guys a benefit of a doubt because of how much I like the game but I want to love the game! And I just feel like the game developers don’t love me back because I love their asura and charr more than the humans. Please make this a thing!!! Especially the hair choices for the sylvari, asura, and charr.

I’m totally in love with Asuras, but sometimes it feels quite hard playing a
toon that I cannot be entirely satisfied with (#FashionWars), and hairstyles are
a crucial part of it. The hairstyles in the link Jodie provided are totally reasonable
to make, since they’re still loyal to the lore, and yet they look so much nicer
than what we currently have.
Anet, please take notes!

Oh please make long hair for asura ! And maybe some others for female humans. The only one which really looks good is the one with the flower and almost everyone got that…

One of my male Asura has long, flowing hair canonically and the best I can do for him is whichever one is the ponytail option.

Also I’m really loving and digging those hair styles on that Wix site. I’d throw money at Anet for those hairstyles if they were to show up in game. <3

I’ve been pushing for long hair styles for asura for a while now (all we seem to get are up-dos) and I’ve promoted that artist on this forum before. She posts her work on the reddit site fairly often (The sylvari artwork is her latest offering), but more exposure is a good thing.

Please Anet, pay this artist and give us long hair styles for our asura!

I would LOVE more options! Next to playing with my friends and family, my favorite thing to do is dress up my characters. I have spent an embarrassing amount of money making them pretty and to suit my mood of the day. More options means more money for Anet.

Please do give more options. The ones asura have rarely work and most are just downright awful. Plain long hair, plain ponytails, plain anything would be better.

Always down for more hairstyles for any race, but I agree that Asura are in some pretty sore need of good updates after seeing some of the concepts on that site. It would be really rad of Arenanet if they maybe did some kind of contest for user-created content as well.

I don’t know if this is asking too much, but I really wish they would release new hairstyles a little more frequently. As it is, it takes absolutely foreeeeeeverrrrrr to see any kind of hairstyle update apart from dyes. I guess they’re stretched pretty thin, at least that’s what Anet makes it sound like if a single new armor set takes 9 months to make as they say.

But I also agree that there has been a severe lack of variety in the hairstyles as of late. The topic that always comes up is the human males having WAY to many boy-band, super shiny salon-fresh hairstyles and barely any that could be used for a more rugged dude.

Also more beards would be awesome, especially for humans. Sylvari leaf beards would be a nice and welcome surprise too if you ask me.

Would be great if they had some male Charr ones that made sense too? Females still got a better look than most Charr. I also demand more Norn Beards!

I seriously think Anet’s working their butt off for their limited staff to deliver on the story and their PvP platform, but I would be willing to wait once a -year- for new hairstyles, if they got an actual design specialist to sort out what would look good on each class and take the time to do the textures right.

Personally I’m a fan of the Asura and have been very disappointed with the new goodies they put out. At best the hairs I use are the k-pop ponytail styles, or the sproingy antennea hair with the double braids and the one in the back.

There’s only a those few ‘gems’ in the stock of what they’ve provided, they could do better, and I mean I like the attitude they tried with the row of hair they did that includes squid-hair, but the latest set they released was the -same three boxy uninteresting and stiff hair for both male and female… it just screams ‘We rushed this, sor!’ —and don’t get me started on the unisex faces. It’s quote ‘neat’ to have attempts to portray Asura as gender-neutral… but don’t use it as an excuse for obvious laziness/no time but had to put something out…

I’d rather see these things be released -once- a year and with -decent- unique effort put into the quality of these styles, because unless they take those skins away for the few people who can pull off a good look with what they were given, that content is in the game. For good. and it will soon clutter the system with these kitten releases that are designed to make people spend more money to make their toons look unique!

Anyways, I also heard they pulled other corner-cutting stuff like giving norn hairstyles to humans and vice versa, so that’s bad, but I don’t play any characters other than Asura, so I can’t rant/complain about that part of the system… but it’s not good.

The makeover kit system is obviously a limited resource. I’d rather they slow down, take time to release -good- upgrades/options for every race, a fair shot for every race and gender to have that pizzazz of ‘I just bought a kit, look at my new look people~!’ not, “I didn’t buy a kit because that hair is… ew, can’t make it work.”

It’s not just an isolated opinion. I look, I see plenty of those ‘winner’ styles they come out with on all the toons I roleplay with, and it’s super obvious that by and large some hairstyles are really sub-quality and undesirable and just wasting space on a thing that will soon have to be revamped and possibly risk taking some okay stuff off the kit to make room for new content, or possibly someday never getting good styles because they’ve hit that cap and people can name off like 8-9 styles that could be tossed, but they can’t or wont because of how the system is set up, so it’ll all just be gg for Fashion Wars 2

Anyways, that’s my opinion on the matter, they really should figure out how to release content that people will use more often. On a final note, I still find the original faces, like, the original nine on male/female faces to be of better quality than the new faces. There are some new faces that I’ve managed to make work, but the original ones are still top-notch and I’ve unfortunately yet to see them actually meet the benchmark again, instead we have literally unisex faces with just different tatoos/iris shapes, and it isn’t interesting or attention grabbing, it just looks like corner-cutting where they should really put in an effort to make unique and meaningful content that will incline people to break out their gems and give it a try.

Thoughts? I sort of splurged my words onto this post, a little scatter brained so sorry for any confusing bits. But yeah, I support the OP’s reason for making this post, and I like the examples of what hairstyles ‘could be’ but currently aren’t because Anet probably isn’t dedicating enough attention or effort to something that is kind of a mess imo right now and heading quickly towards disaster.
