Change it to the Accountname of the sender.
I get many mails and do not know who they’re from and have to reply asking “who are you”.

Please change the name. Instead of charactername, take the account name.
Or both.

It’s already annoying how ppl can see your account name in parties and if they follow you. (I’m not bothered if they can see it after mutual friending)
The thought just makes me paranoid and I’m sure I’m not the only one who feels that way. And no. I got nothin to hide, I just don’t like the lack of privacy/ control over who follows us or who can see our account name.
I wouldn’t mind the feature if it was between mutual friends, but if some random person mails me and I mail em back they shouldn’t be able to know my account name.
This is just a small thing I dislike bout GW2..

OP’s idea is probably good, though it hasn’t bothered me much. I usually get mail from someone I know well, or from someone I’ve seen around at that time (and therefore know the name of that toon).

You realise everyone can see your account name right now…?

Not sure how much it would help as the forums are a secondary means to lose privacy, I’d had a formally very vocal member of the community send me a “I am blocking note” after I fact checked him one too many time.

Yes i do, but its a forum, and so I expect it to be seen here. What I didn’t expect was for it to be seen in game. Sadly when I made it, I was not aware tht would be the case.

If you type a character name into your contact list, you will then see the account name. There is no privacy in this game.
