Howdy!

I haven’t seen a topic about locking your armor, trinkets and weapons in your inventory yet, so I thought I’d make one. Personally I have ran into this problem quite a few times and I was wondering if more people have ran into this.

Scenario: you are casually killing things when you suddenly see an exotic/ascended piece of gear in your inventory! Buuuut then you realize you have accidently equipped a masterwork/fine piece of armor that you have picked up along the way. Maybe I am just silly but I have salvaged exotic gear before which happend to be my own gear. ^^’

Solution: simply to make a little lock icon which locks all your currently equipped gear. To lock/unlock you simply toggle it on and off. Perhaps it’s overdo, but I would love to have this option.

Good day!

I never salvage exotics until I’m at the bank. It’s a “haste makes waste” thing to me, not a cause to create a new mechanic.

(I’m not against the option — I just think it can be prevented by players being more careful, leaving the dev team free to work on other things that people can’t work around so easily.)

The salvage kits now have a right click “salvage all” option. Choose masterwork and below from the choices given and you won’t salvage your exotics. If you’re salvaging exotics after that then it’s deliberate and you should be checking the prices first before salvaging them anyway.

Maybe include that it’s already soulbound in the prompt? I can’t say I’ve ever had this problem, though.

I have had the problem of my inventory rearranging itself when I swap weapons – particularly if I have no overlap between my 2 weaponsets, and swap in a single 2 handed weapon for a main and offhand, one of them always ends up in my “churn” inventory rather than down in my fancy bag for gear. I’d love the ability to earmark inventory slots for “gear swapping” and it just be out of the rotation, but any gear I swap out (not simply unequip) ends up there.

GW1 sort of had this for weapons, because the 4 weapons you could swap between were separate from your inventory (if memory serves, it’s been a while). I guess they really just had 4 gear loads instead of 2, but it was enough that I didn’t find myself swapping weapons from inventory nearly as much.

Perhaps I’m just OCD about my inventory though, I like to know the weapons are in a certain place because that’s where I look to for swapping, I don’t want to use the search to find my weapon when running between bosses/content.

In any case, the concept of swapped gear going to specific ‘locked’ inventory slots (especially if those slots were blocked from merch/salvage) would effectively solve your issue as well. Yes, before someone says, I use invisible bags and I am aware of the fractal boxes – neither solves my issue of the occasional pistol or dagger landing in my backpack.

I have had the issue of swapping out weapons only to have something go willy-nilly into a random bag instead of my invisible bag that I keep the stuff I don’t want to lose. Even if I have plenty of room in that bag it seems to happen. There should be a way of earmarking something so it either cannot be salvaged or sold unless unlocked or it automatically goes into the invisible bag.

Possibly when you put something in a specialized box you get the ability to check it so that it always goes back there until you uncheck it.
