Hello, everyone!

I’m just wanting to suggest a very basic, simple quality-of-life item that would greatly benefit the following player bases:

Roleplayers
Those with Legendary weapons/armor
Those with animated weapons (Kasmeer’s staff, any torch, etc.)
Those who simply want to have their weapons drawn.

Basically I notice that our characters automatically stow weapons after a mere 25 seconds, regardless if it was a willing draw (i.e. hitting the hotkey) or a forced draw (i.e. being attacked). Other games (WoW, SWTOR, etc.) allow an individual to keep a weapon drawn when it is willingly drawn, and stow it at your leisure. This would be a very basic fix that would just be a great addition and have no downsides whatsoever. In addition, there is next-to-no reason whatsoever to automatically stow your weapons.

If, for some reason, the engine does not support indefinitely-drawn weapons, just extend the timer to something like an hour or so. Few people would want their weapons drawn for much longer than that, and if they do, it’s more convenient to do it every hour rather than every 25 seconds.

Thank you for taking the time to read this. I hope we see this very soon!

To be honest, i think 25 seconds is already way too long. I can’t stand having my characters in fighting mode when there is nothing around. The two handed sword in particular annoys me to no end in that aspect. With other weapons your character just stands there doing that weird wiggle…. grrrr.

In WoW your weapons can be sheeted with Ctrl+Z if i remember correctly. I used to have a small addon that would automatically always sheeth/stow my weapons.

If anything, there should be a shortcut that would allow you to stow your weapon OR have it stowed immediately after combat (shortening combat stance).

Personally I always stow my weapon manually the second I’m done with combat as I think the 25 seconds is quite long too.

But I can’t see any harm having a toggle option so players can leave it as it is now with the autostow, or could have autostow turned off. Either way wouldn’t effect me as I’ll continue to stow manually straight after combat.

Edit – from a role play pov I’d actually say weapons should be permanently stowed in cities, as realistically it walking around a city with a drawn weapon doesn’t make sense. But obviously wouldn’t make sense to do in game as players like to show off their shiny new weapons there.

Too bad there really isn’t much done for roleplayers at all. At least I have the feeling.

I also have to draw the characters weapons more often manually when being in a roleplay session.

Some sort of roleplay skills would be nice. No cooldown at all, but also no damage done/effects given/whatsoever. So you can use them as often and as fast as you want in roleplay ;D

There is a shortcut to stow and draw weapons. I think it’s Z by default.
I changed mine to R because that’s what I had it set in Skyrim when GW2 came out and it kept confusing me.

I’d only support this option if guards near villages and towns attack you for having your weapons out. If we’re gonna pull the “roleplay card” having your weapon drawn all the time is a symbol of perpetual hostility, and should be responded to as such.

How about allowing us to set the sheathe weapons time ourselves?

Going from 1 – 60 seconds and a separate unlimited option would be ideal imo

You can set a key bind to stow and draw your weapons.

Found it finally… it wasn’t bound to anything. Thanks

Fully support this idea. I have a few characters with shields and backpacks that I want to present simultaneously, so I run around smashing autoattack every few seconds to keep them from stowing. Same goes for weapons that lose their effect when stowed.

I think it’s a great idea, and shouldn’t be difficult to code in, either.
