Suggestion: Linking GW1\GW2 Achievements
I’d say it’s probably out of the question. GW1 is in long-term maintenance mode, so I can’t see them implementing a new feature like this, particularly since encouraging people to play more GW1 (rather than populating GW2,) doesn’t do much to serve their current goals. GW1 is still going, and I’m sure they’re happy to have people still playing it, but there’s not enough reason for them to spend resources on it.
Linking the two like this might do a little to increase brand loyalty, but I’m doubtful it would be enough to justify cracking open the GW1 code to make changes, then keeping an eye out for bugs and problems.
Even if it sounds like a relatively simple idea, actually implementing it would take too much for too little.
I agree with Redenaz. Guild Wars 1 is basically on life support. They’re keeping the servers running but not adding anything new, such as new minis for birthday presents. For example, they have a vendor that will take birthday tokens past year 7 and you can trade them in for old birthday presents. They still do bug fixing but do they still do skill balancing?
They are focused on Guild Wars 2 and not interested in the old game.
Nope.
Even if we consider the idea of GW1 is on life support, the games are far too different to consider this. There is no Personal Story, conditions don’t even work remotely the same, Interruption also doesn’t work the same, GW1 doesn’t distinguish regions (Maguuma/Shiverpeaks/etc.), the GW1 “equivalent” of “champions/veterans/legendaries” could only be bosses.
Really, in the end, the games are two entirely different games.
Besides, there are already dailies in GW1 called Zaishen Quests – we don’t need more.
And then, if none of that is suitable – the technical problems associated with such a link would be astronomical.
