It’s a very simple suggestion regarding the visual passage of time within the game world.

It’s not something you’d often notice unless you sat down with the determination to reach level x in the next two hours and were on the edge of your seat paying attention or happen to be playing GW2 in the background while doing other things on your PC.

Something about the idea of a game world with a two hour day just bugs me, Guild Wars 2 does have some nice lighting and weather effects and that’s how I ended up noticing this. Having to leave the PC while looking up at the sky, I came back 30ish minutes later and it’s night time.

I can’t explain exactly why these tiny days bug me but they just do and not many games (at least that I seem to play) have these short day cycles.

Other games I play online on a regular basis have either 24 hour day cycles where the day or night has no effect on game play other than visual and is synced to the servers local time.

Some games I have played single player have 6 or 12 hour day night cycles which is much less jarring.

So how about it? Make the day cycles a few hours longer.

Yes, they are too short and I am not sure but I think they aren’t even the same on different maps which removes a lot of immersion and isn’t really authentic. It’s in a very underdeveloped state. Also, weather effects are not really present aside from some rain drops from time to time. I hope they will improve this in the future.

‘would have/would’ve been’ —> correct
‘would of been’ —> wrong

I totally agree with this, though I can also see how it could be less focused on (as with many things where they have to prioritize).

I used to be a power ranger, now not sure anymore

It’s funny you bring this up now, I was just about to post a similar question. I am not so worried about having the days or nights longer, what I would like to see is more noticable nights. At the moment the nights, while obviously different to days do not feel very dark. I would love to see nightime get really dark at its peak, maybe dependant on the area and season.

Some things I would love to see added to GW2 to increase the immersion:

- Darker nights, based on season and region.
- Varying degrees of random weather effects, also based on season and region.
- Different creatures at night compared to the day. And also creatures that come out in certain weather, such as the dust mites in dry top.

I really enjoyed the sandstorm effect in Dry Top and would love to see that kind of immersion added to all areas of the game. Tyria looks great and has some nice aesthetic touches, but things like weather and atmospheric effects would go a long way to improve immersion in my opinion.

Additionally, I think weather effects, and dark nights, could have very interesting tactical play in WvW. Can you imagine taking a keep when an enemy zerg rushes in under the cover of a blizzard? I know the new borderlands have some interesting environmental effects, but I would love to see some random weather thrown in too.

Simplicity is complex.

Good feedback is key to getting the developers to listen to you.

I’ve been thinking the same…
And yes longer day/nights with some different mobs and events, day/nights synchronized across all maps and introduction of seasons (like 3 months seasons that would also change the maps in some ways) would be perfection…
