[Suggestion] Make Mini Pets An Unlock.
It would destroy the TP market for minis. So I think it’s a rather bad idea. I’d rather have them add a slot to your hero pannel where you can equip them.

I don’t much care about the market but a slot to equip them would be most excellent.

I’m not sure how it’d destroy the market for minis since people who buy them to re-sell them don’t actually have to use them. Those that want to keep them can, since I’m talking about turning the current icons that exist in the world, including on the TP, would be a double click to unlock, so wouldn’t be ‘soul bound’ until it’s used.
And to be honest, seeing a dedicated panel like the Finishers might get more people interested in buying their collection in the first place.
It was my HoM that got me interested in filling my mini collection in GW1. The ability to ‘show it off’ so to speak. I lack that ability here. So there really isn’t much of a point in collecting them. Thankfully they don’t clog my bank space here, but they just gather dust in my vault typically.
Only being able to have one, and having to pass it from character to character is hassle, then and now. Which adds to my not carrying one with my to use. Not to mention having to turn it back on all the time.

That turning it back on could be another problem it solves – good thinking! Having a pet ‘Activated’ would mean it’s always on whether you leave an instance or zone or not. And yes, I like most of all being able to activate it from anywhere, and not having to have duplicates for each character.
:)
An interface like the one that WOW used for the pets would be really nice.
But if can’t be done, a equip slot can be fine too.
And how about two minipets active at the same time?
I want to have mini Kas and mini Jory at the same time!! =)
Not an unlock but definitely a slot in equipment for them

A panel might work, or an account bound mini slot (something many have suggested).
They’d have to address the ability to have it auto-deploy when zoning and such…
They’d also have to make it so that they can all swim…
By all means, it should be very doable, just takes time.

Kas & Jory minis running alongside one another <3

The rarest Minis that are now unattainable would become extinct. Lets say Mini Karka Hatchlings, Mini Reef Drake or even Mini Southsun Kasmeer. People that bought them love them, but at the same time it’s kind of an investment. Because lets face it, they all get boring sooner or later, since new cooler looking minis come out. Making them account bound unlocks and therefore taking them out of the economy would make those minis spike in price like crazy. At the same time all those common ones would become even more worthless than they are.
If you look at TP right now out of the top 10 most expensive minis, 5 of them are not attainable through meaning other than TP itself. Making the potential future income items account bound because of the attraction or connection you have with a current mini, takes the item out of economy completely, making it even more rare and even more expensive. Because the fact is that by using your system, the second you make it appear, it is gone from economy.
I would be more happy with a slot equipment that maybe has an access directly to your bank that you can choose which one of your minis you have stored, you want to show at the moment.

I think you may have misunderstood what I mean by ‘unlocking’. What I’m talking about is the icons we use now are still not bound and still exist, but instead of double clicking them to activate as a pet and put away, double clicking them makes the icon disappear and puts it in your hero panel. Then, it’s in your collection where you can view your collection from anywhere in Tyria. Like a dye if you like as well, if that makes sense.
You can still sell the mini pet on the TP, you just can’t sell a used one is what I’m suggesting (which let’s be honest, we shouldn’t be allowed to anyway!).
The idea is to make it easier for different characters to use the same mini pet without visiting the bank.
Also, a character can change their mini pet without visiting their collection (if they get bored of the old one as you suggested), which means they can stand anywhere with anyone else changing their mini pets to show off to that person their collection. There’s no luggage to carry, and I strongly believe a dedicated panel for minis will get people interested more in the collection, making more sales on the TP, rather than less.
People who ‘flip’ the TP will still be able to sell mini pets in exactly the same way as they do now.
As for these rare ones that are dying out – they will anyway sooner or later. Nothing can stop that if you can’t obtain them anymore.

I understood perfectly. Since double clicking makes the “icon disappear” thus removing it from economy.
The whole thing was like buying a very expensive skin on TP for a greatsword, let’s say, (example) Dreamthistle Greatsword Skin, which goes for 250g. You love it, you play with it all the time. Now as the time passes you finally finished your Twilight (example). What happens to your GS skin you bought for that 250g? It gets salvaged to get that sigil or maybe thrown to MF with other exotics. But now you have a Twilight without being able to sell that GS skin you bought so long ago which is now in 500g range (example).
This scenario is doable with Minis at this moment in time. You buy a mini you love, but a newer and cooler mini comes along. Even though you bought it for 20g back then, it’s now worth way over 100g. You sell it, make some money and also enjoy your new mini. What you’re proposing makes this scenario impossible.
I’d rather have them work on a solution that doesn’t take away options, rather than adding or enhancing them.
Maybe making equipment slot might be tied to your bank collection tab, would let you pick any mini you have “stored” (as in still being there as an “icon” but in your bank) in your collection tab, but at the same time allow you to take that mini out and sell it back, or more of a “pass on the fun”.
Taking things out of economy makes flippers go crazy with speculation driving prices to unreachable for average player heights.
I want them to make minis more accessible without taking up space in your inventory at all times, but this is not it.
The only person that would benefit from this change would be people like you having multiple copies of minis for each character and flippers, while creating another wall for average players to enjoy the contents that otherwise would be way out of their price range.
Btw, this line:
which let’s be honest, we shouldn’t be allowed to anyway!
It baffles me. Why not? Because it’s too convinient? Why make it harder?
They’re fine as is. It used to be annoying because you’d have to tuck them into a safe box, but that’s not the case anymore, so my minis sit in my main backpack now for easy access.
Now, if you wanted to suggest to arenanet that we get a way to place some inventory slots on the main hud without the bag interface (consumables, minis, toys/instruments, etc), that I’m on board with 100%.
Priorities, what to do?
Spend hours with dye
