[Suggestion] Make overflow language specific
In my experience, I’m only on Overflow for around 10 minutes. I don’t generally find the need to communicate “globally”. And besides, exposure to other languages is beneficial to you. I really don’t see your problem.
Because you don’t have a problem does not mean others don’t have a problem with it too. I do communicate globally at times, for me it is part of the fun to chat with the people I play with.
I do agree that exposure to other languages is beneficial, but I don’t think this has to be the place for that.
You are not supposed to play on overflow servers. They are there so that you can login and play instead of seeing a message that area is full, time remaining 4 hours.
It’s unnecessary to add features to a feature.

But I don’t understand why it is an issue… I mean, I’ve been on overflows as much as the next guy, and it’s not often that the majority isn’t English. But worst-case scenario, you’re just not chatting in “/map” for a few minutes. And this is such an issue to you, that you want the server architecture changing so that you can chat in /map for a little while. Doesn’t that seem a bit… I dunno, over-the-top?
While you are not supposed to play there, you are placed there. I am happy it exists for the reasons you are mentioning zogrim, it is much better than not being able to login indeed. But I do think it can be improved upon.
Why are you guys so against it? Wouldn’t you prefer to play with people you can understand and who understand you when you are placed on an overflow server? Ofcourse I have no idea how much work this suggestion would cost, but I leave that up for the devs to judge as I am sure they can judge that much better than me. But the idea in itself does not sound like something you could be against to me.

If it would be a lot of work, yes that would be over the top. But I have no idea how the system is set up and if it could be easily implemented or not. As said in my previous post, I leave that up to the devs to judge as it might indeed need major changes in the architecture. But it could also be a software solution that could be quite easily implemented.
Different strokes for different folks, Esya. Overflow is a minor inconvenience and I like the system because it means you don’t get a “Please Try Again Later” message when you want to log in. And you’re not there for very long. We all like communicating with others in our native tongue, but it is not like you’re there for very long.
Fair enough. And I agree with you that it is nice that the system is in place to begin with and I do appreciate that, it does lower the inconvenience by a lot. Just had an idea to improve upon from personal experience and from what I read in guildchat I wasn’t completely alone (though we could still be the minority ).
One could argue that, as you still have guild chat, you have plenty of people to talk to, in your native tongue
It is not even my native tongue, but that are even smaller details.
I think they need to bring Channels back. What happens around Halloween with Events going on in LA, and everyone is there. Overflows/friends trying to join could be nightmareous. Could. I have faith in ArenaNet though, but think Channels is the solution in my own opinion. Whatever they do, though.

You’re definitely not alone. Overflow, as it is now, is atrocious and needs to be reworked. The fact that every single zone is instanced is stupid because it means ‘loading screen – the game". While, this thread is about overflow and not the zones, it’s kind of connected in the sense that when you enter a new zone you’re brought to the overflow again. Why even make me pick a server if I’m tossed around everywhere? They might as well just make you pick what team you want to be on for WvW and then that’s it.
