[Suggestion] More Options
General Options > User Interface
- Hide My Story — While the Living Story is interesting, I don’t feel like going through it on each of my characters. The constant reminder on the upper right of my screen, not to mention on the mini-map, is distracting and unnecessary. Being able to remove it would help reduce clutter, as well.
Options, User Interface, Content Guide: “Disable Personal Story”
May not be what you mean, but that option is there.

This is what I mean (see attachment).

Pretty good start. I’d add the ability to dye hair ornamentation along with undies.
And I’m still looking for some toggles:
- View Commander Tags
- View Legendary Weapon Footprints
- View Legendary Weapon Auras
- View Legendary Weapon Air Swooshes
I imagine “NPE Off” would only be available after leveling at least one character to 80. I am fortunate that I only have one sub-80 character left of each of the 8 Professions. (I rolled a temp character for Transmutation Stone farming, and was REALLY annoyed by all the popups, even though I supposedly have them turned off).

Here’s an option that I wanted to suggest in it’s own thread, but will do just fine here:
The Skill Bar Tooltips are totally out of control. They block everything I want to see anymore. (Especially the Elementalist Elite skill Glyph of Elementals, which has so much information it disappears off the top and bottom of the screen). Yes, some people are still mouse-clickers.
I suggest a checkbox to disable skill bar tooltips on mouseover UNLESS a specific (bindable) key is being pressed. If said key is not being pressed when you mouseover a skill, then a mini tooltip should appear showing only the skill name, cooldown and casting times – just the most basic info – plus a note at the bottom that says “Hold down the [X] key to view full skill info”.

Since yesterday’s patch, I’ll have to add:
Black Lion Trading Company > Currency Exchange
Input Custom Amount — A button at the bottom which opens up the old Currency Exchange interface, where players can input a set amount of gold or gems they want to convert. Restraints on an already existing system should always be optional.
Trying to simplify an interface for new players is fine, but removing useful features entirely because they’re “too complicated” alienates and insults veteran players. Instead, these interfaces should be better introduced to player (with a quick tutorial upon first use, or a help button on the upper right corner).

Well, this is still relevant. I’ve got another idea or two.
Black Lion Trading Company > Trading Post
- Only Show Locked Dyes — A similar option to a previously suggested one, this one being for dyes. There is no need to display dyes that I already own if I’m looking for new ones!
General Options > Competitive
- Team Color Skills — A popular demand. This option applies a color filter to all skill visual effects according to the color of the team the user is on.
Here’s another one.
General Options > Camera
- Lock Camera In Third Person — Enabled by default, this option prevents the camera from zooming into first person and making the character model fade out. The objective is to allow players to disable this option, whether it is to take screenshots, be able to see something in cramped areas, give an alternative for charr in jumping puzzles, or simply for better overall immersion. Being able to have the camera on the point of rotation would be extremely useful in many situations, and not having that option is a major step back from the previous title and competitors.
Sound Options
- Number of Channels (Low to High slider) — Allow players to choose how many sounds can be played at once. The very low number of audio channels by default in Guild Wars 2 makes it very inconvenient to play musical instruments near crowds. The sounds emitted from the players often prevent notes from being audible (the sounds simply do not play), which is very confusing for both the player and the listeners.
- Always Play Loot Sounds — I’ve been trying to figure out why I enjoyed looting items in the original Guild Wars a lot more than in Guild Wars 2. Eventually, I tried disabling autoloot, and that’s when I noticed that sounds do not play when looting items while autoloot is enabled. I find that these little sounds add a lot of satisfaction to picking up item — especially coins — and I’d love being able to always hear them without having to sacrifice the convenience of autoloot.
I’d also like to see better 3rd person camera options.
If you zoom out, the character stays right in the middle of the screen, which leads into seeing way to much of what’s behind your charakter. Between bottom of the screen and your characters feets is too much space wasted, and it could better spend for things in front of your character.
Example: If you stand in front of The Shatterer and zoom out your camera view, you could hardly see his head, while having to much empty space at the bottom half of your screen.
Also the camera-collides-with-the-ground-while-looking-up (especially with small charakters) is an issue, which could be solved with a higher camera pivot point.
Just read this old thread about it, to see what i mean -> http://www.guildwars2guru.com/topic/73223-fov-field-of-view-changes-beta-test/#entry2048990
Hopefully we see some improvements to this in the near future.
Thanks for the upcoming update with better camera adjustments. I can’t wait for release.
