[Suggestion] Necro GS2 Oval instead of Circle

So, instead of the overly-used 360 aoe, I suggest changing it to effect enemies in front and behind, like a heavy overhead swing. The whirl effect would still apply (the animation would look something like an overhead down, continue around to the flank and overhead again.

Why? Well, the 360 aoe is redundant on a reaper since there is already the built-in RS4 which is a continuous spin to win.

Furthermore, and the more important reason is to speed it up. narrowing the aoe should relieve the skill of its hefty cast time animation. It would also make the skill more unique and require a little more directional awareness.

Anways, just a suggestion.

Interesting proposition. If the engine can handle it, I think it would add a lot of flavor to have select skills have different AoE shapes. However, that also increases the learning curve on elite specs, though whether that’s a bad thing or not is up to everyone’s opinion.

Game engines typically don’t like things that aren’t spheres when it comes to collision detection.

Ovals are of course entirely doable it just requires more math on the server’s part, which may negatively effect performance in things like WvW or large world bosses like Tequatl.

FWIW, if your end goal is to have the attacks be faster, you would be better off arguing about why that is useful alone. This suggestion, as it stands, essentially presupposes that anet agree that it is useful, desirably, and good for the game to speed up the attack — and the only blocker is figuring out a way to make that work with the animations.

So, to help this be more likely to be implemented:

Why would it be good to have faster attack animations for that reaper GS skill?

The animation and the AoE shape have nothing to do with each other as easily seen when you apply quickness and use the skill.

they can simply speed up the animation or just up the dmg both solve the problem
