[Suggestion] New caster weapons: Discs!
I play mainly elementalist, mesmer and necro and I like your idea! I also had that thought when i played tera online times ago and came back to gw2!
It is also known that Arena Net will do new weapons or/and give already existing weapons to other classes and i think a magical disc would be a great new weapon for mesmers, elementalists and necros! This would bring new options to the gameplay and i hope they will implement new weapons as soon as possible!
Now I have never played TERA or any other game with discs, but it seems like a good idea and we could use more weapons. I do like to point out that gaurdians also use spellcaster weapons like staves, but you did not add them to your list of professions that should get this new weapon. Is there a reason for this?

It seems to me that discs are not suited for guardians line of magic, i.e. it doesn’t seem to fit them, but we could work out that in some way if there’s a reasonable explanation lore-wise.

Like the chakrams from KoAR?
I was going to mention Kingdom of Amalur and Dragons nest have them and they are really fun weapons.
Hi, I’m an Elementalist and I like your idea.
They also seem perfect to have Control-based skills (like all hammer skills).
For example: Staves are mainly supprtive, Scepters do single target dmg so this would fit perfect with Control-based skills that light armor professions lack (when comparing to hammer).
Things that came to my mind:
For Necro: Summon chains of ice that pulls your target and chill them.
Ele Air: Throws your target and other enemies arround your target to the air
Ele Earth: Sumons a rock hand from the ground that imobilizes your target, activate again to slam the target and knock down all enemies in a line
Mesmer: Switch places with your target confusing him
This also seems awsome weapon for thievs IF wont float in the air. Following the Control-Based skills

I like the mesmer idea, WS got a swap skill like that and it’s really fun. For eles, there are so many ideas and I think that air suits the best for magical discs.
When you talked about thief I remember Xena: The Warrior Princess for some reason. lol

That would be an idea for professions with physical damage, you could use chakrams as a new weapon type.
In TERA, casters use the discs as a magic focus. So we kinda already have that in GW2, just with a different shape. It’s not really new weapon type for them.
as mentioned, the way they are used in that other game is like a focus for spellcasting. Which we have already, I think we even have some skins resembling discs (not completely sure about that). Also, I´d tone down on the other game references, we get the point and prominent promo for a competitor will likely lead to this thread being closed.
Awesome, and the SAB version can be a Floppy disk. Can’t go more old school than that.

Mesmer:
Step1: Switch with target on enemy/veteran inside Keep or Garrison
Step 2: Portal
Step 3: Claim structure
Step 4: Next Keep/Garrison

That’s why there’s LoS algorithm, and a few others that prevent going where one’s not supposed to, more respect to their programmers please.
Focus offhand weapons are literally the same thing as you are suggesting.
PvP modes are the “endgame” in all MMOs.
Stop failing at PvE, and fix WvW/SPvP. Thank you.

Pretty much.
Maybe introduce some of these as skins for Focus/Shields.
Actually, Discs/chakrams/boomerangs should really be a non-caster ranged weapon and go to classes like thief and ranger.
What casters need is tomes. That would be cool.
As far as I know, the devs have expressed more of an interest in adding skillsets to existing weapons rather than making new weapons. I don’t think they said definitively that that’s the plan, but it was mentioned that they’d like for every profession to be able to use every currently existing weapon.
Which, I’d be satisfied with that, and it’d save them on coming up with ten billion new models for a new weapon.
Priorities, what to do?
Spend hours with dye
Also, land spears needs to happen.

Discs for casting, hmm? Tron would be so proud.

Guys we should take a hint from Kingdom of Amalur: Reckoning also https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=MuUlYOK40_M
they would be a mid ranged melee weapon
When I read the title I was thinking discs like what Axel uses in Kingdom Hearts.
Then I read the OP and I saw it wasn’t anywhere near what I wanted.
