Every now and then, Anet gives us a new gemstore outfit. Sometimes they’re pretty good, other times they’re a bit lacking. And like many people, I get tired of hearing people complain so much about how ugly these new outfits are. So instead of complaining (which helps no one), I figured I’d create a thread exclusively for people to offer their own fresh ideas. This thread is gonna be the place to offer friendly suggestions on what we think would make a good outfit to add to the game!

Now, there are other threads that argue over what’s better, outfits or armor pieces, but this isn’t one of those threads. Nor is this thread for complaining about outfits in general. Again, there are other threads for that. So let’s keep this as on-topic, positive, and constructive as possible.

I’ll start things off by saying we could use an authentic jester outfit! It’d be a really cool, unique style to add to this game and with all the color options available, people could either dress up as a bright, traditional, fun-loving jester or they could throw on a bunch of blacks and reds and run around as a cliché evil, psychotic, murderous one. Like that one guy from League of Legends, Shaco. I found this particular jester outfit randomly browsing Aion’s costume page on their website and immediately thought, “Now this is something I could see in Guild Wars someday!” It’s not lore-breaking (which is something I always take into consideration), yet it’s wildly different from the usual trend of outfits we’ve been getting lately.

As fate would have it, I ran into a dev in-game and after chatting for a bit, I pitched the idea. He replied saying, “Well, there’s the Prince Thorn outfit…” To that I just kinda smiled and nodded as I figured it was safe to assume he’s probably never even seen a jester before. That also motivated me to make this thread, as a means to provide more detailed and visual examples of outfits for them to consider bringing to the world of Guild Wars!

Yeah, I remember that outfit. I believe it was an NPC only skin that existed way back when from before we even had the wardrobe system. It’s okay as far as jester outfits go, I suppose. But I honestly think the jester costume in Aion is far better. Especially since it looks like that old outfit only has two dye channels.

Funny that someone else remembers those old unacquirable town clothes though!

Well, given that my prime guild is “The Jesters,” when that datamine came out we all got super excited and wanted it for our guild uniform

So it sticks in my memory.

I don’t like outfits much. I much perfer the skins instead because mixing and matching is much more fun. I would take one whole skin set over five outfits any day. Not to say all outfits aren’t cool, but skins are better.

Yo, did you happen to miss this part of my original post?

Thank you for your input, but at least read the OP on threads before posting in them to avoid throwing it off topic, please.

I have some ideas for more casual looking outfits; The first is basically redesign the town clothes as a single new outfit like the wedding one, in that it would look different depending on what race/gender is wearing it. It would also include an emblem of the god/spirit/legion/etc that you selected in the character creation.

My second outfit is a workout outfit I call a “Guild Athletic Outfit.” It would look something like the image below, and it would show your guild’s emblem (or would be blank if you’re not in one)

Lol, the Prince Thorn outfit isn’t even remotely close.

An actual jester’s outfit would be so amazing! I’ve been holding out hope for one to use on my mesmer for so long, and TWICE now I’ve been taunted with unobtainable outfits. The first is the one that Donari attached in his first post. The second was an outfit I saw during Halloween. I agree that an outfit more closely resembling the Aion one would be preferred. It just looks so much more stylish and, well, foolish.

Oh, and for those wondering what that Halloween jester outfit looked like, I took a screen cap for your viewing pleasure! Let it taunt you the way it has taunted me!

+1 to this.
I would also love to get the Witchwear and the Lunatic Court Finery back.

I’m pretty sure that is the female version of the male one I posted above, but I only seem to have a processed screenie of the male one. If I have one in female I’ll have to dig through my old screens and I don’t know what month to look in.

You know… you are absolutely right. But then I’d say that the male version looks terrible compared to the female version. Basically something similar to the op’s attached pics would be what I’d like to see in a jester’s outfit. It just pops more.

Or how about something like this? Anyone remember Gauntlet: Dark Legacy? Good times… and the Green Jester was awesome!

I wouldn’t mind seeing an outfit, or series of outfits, based on the GW1 Margonites. Some might say the Zodiac armor is similar but the Margonites had a much darker theme.

They’re slowly working through the Dervish avatars. I wouldn’t be surprised if Melandru pops up sooner than later. I mean it’s just Melandru and Grenth left.

Actually, I wish they’d release all the old Guild Wars costumes. They’ve done a couple so far. A lot of them were really great, particularly the gods-themed costumes. Only problem I have is that the Dervish Lyssa form they recently released is very similar to the Vision of Lyssa in Guild Wars so if they ever decide to re-release the GW1 gods’ costumes they might leave it out.

i was just thinking this would make a really great april fools day outfit! and it’d be much better than that random unfunny aviator thing they did last year. it would be especially humorous to see what charr and asura look like wearing a garb like this. of course, i’d do without the clown face paint that are shown in this screen cap. definitely like the big hat tho, with maybe a masquerade mask (like that gauntlet jester seabreeze posted).

like the aion jester costume infinitely better than that old gw2 one. the gw2 one just looks so… blah.

This is something that’s been datamined way back before the wardrobe system was even introduced. Regardless, I would absolutely adore this on my main female asura (especially since they actually wear the female version)!

Please bring this to the gemstore, Anet, and I will buy it in a heartbeat! It’s such a cute outfit!

I like outfits, but I wish you could opt to keep a separate head item. Like I hate that my Necromancer has to give up her “Wraith Mask” to wear an outfit.
