[Suggestion] Per-Character Control Settings
I’d be ok with it as long as it’s optional and can be turned off easily.
The first addon I downloaded for Elder Scrolls Online was one to let me copy my keybindings across all my characters because I got sick of having to set them up on each one manually. Switching to that (and being unable to disable it) in GW2 would be a big step backwards for me.
“Life’s a journey, not a destination.”
Hmm, perhaps I wasn’t clear enough.
It would be optional in that, were it put in place, all control settings would remain as is across your entire account. But, if you wish, you’d now have the option of changing specific keybinds for specific skills on specific characters. Doing so on one character would not interfere with settings on another.

And if I wish I would also have the option to change a specific keybinding on 1 character and have it automatically carry over to all my others just like it does now?
Or are you suggesting that the keybindings I have now become the ‘default’ which is applied to all my characters initially, but any changes I make from that point on will be character specific?

It sounds like that is what the OP is suggesting. Having a character wide default but if you want character specific key binds you have the option to do so. I agree with the idea. Every profession I play a bit differently and would like the option to have key binds saved to specific characters as I often bind my most used skills to the keys/buttons my fingers seem to hit more quickly. Each profession has different skills I use more often. As it is now I have to rebind my keys when I switch to alts instead of having a saved profile for that alt which would be nice.

The way games that offer this tend to do it is have two columns of binds. Left one is account wide, right one is for that particular alt.
I would love the name of that ESO mod, Danikat, as my preference is always for global keybinds so I don’t forget what does what on each alt. I even try to set things the same game to game as best I can, though there will be differences and I will hit the wrong things if I hop between games. Any time I take a short break from GW2 I find myself hitting 1 to start a fight, for instance, so in WoW my mage iceblocks herself into uselessness pre-combat and in ESO I fire off a pull instead of setting up a long range shot … oy. At least WoW isn’t a factor any more, I’m outta there
Anyway, as long as the default is global binds so long as you don’t specify otherwise, so only those wanting the extra complication receive it, I’m fine with this suggestion and can see it offering a good QoL improvement for those in need.
I think this sounds like a GREAT idea. I’d never use it, likely, but I’m all for it for those who want it!
