No, I don’t mean horses and stuff. I mean players AS mounts.

The Idea: Asura get nothing (give them an unrelated fun skill to compensate). Humans and sylvari get the “Carry” skill, allowing them to pick up and carry an asura. Norn and charr get the “Heavy Carry” skill, allowing them to pick up and carry asura, humans, and sylvari.

Using either skill disables your weapon skills, as you can’t swing a sword while carrying or being carried by someone. “Carry” slowly drains endurance, as does “Heavy Carry” unless you’re carrying an asura (in that case, it just stops endurance gain). The skills will have a cool down (prevents spamming it at people), and you have to accept them just as you have to accept the “invited to dance” prompt already in the game.

Why: First, I think it could be fun. Second, it allows a character with a speed buff to carry someone that doesn’t have one, at least for a ways. Third, you could use it to help someone smaller than you to get through a jumping puzzle. No using waypoints while carrying someone to cut costs, though.

Additional Idea: You could also give asura a “Light Carry” skill, and then introduce a potion or effect that shinks people (much like the Valentine’s Candy toy) or changes them into a small creature such as a rabbit. Using these would allow even asura to carry anyone, as long as that effect lasts.

Yeah, you need the thread title changed to “players as mounts” as the forum mods in their never ending work may not have enough time to read your post before deciding what to do about the thread.

anyway, i for one would find this hilarious! I’d actually role an asura specifically for it.

There are ways to allow the asura to carry things. For one, the asura can make things levitate.. this would allow them to carry the other playable races. Or perhaps they could have the ability to jump inside a golem suit and carry human sized things. Though, while this would be fun I didn’t really see the need for all the races to be able to carry things. Perhaps it could be a norn exclusive, and the other races could each get a unique racial ability.

Asuras is the best race to do jps. Or a mesmer of any race.

All the potential clipping issues etc aside could be a fun idea, but too complicated with the different weights. Everyone should be able to carry everyone else.

Sometimes it’s more about player skill than camera issues due to race. I can use a charr to clear some JPs that a friend playing a human can’t clear.

And I worded the thread title like I did in the hopes that a mod would read it, and maybe get a small laugh for a change. It’s still a real suggestion, but I recognize how odd and silly it is, just the same.
