I’m sure somewhere along the line, this topic has been bought up at some point, perhaps more during the earlier days of GW2, but I thought I’d bring it up again anyway.
One thing I really miss in this game is the ability to see light sources from other players where they’re carrying gear that can generate light. I can be looking straight at a character with a torch in hand in a dark JP area, and yet, the area around them is still pitch black. Likewise, I carry a few items that generate light myself (mad king’s memoires, torches, incinerator, etc), and I’m a bit dismayed that no-one else can see the lighting effects they generate, which, in my opinion, is part of their aesthetic appeal.
But beyond just aesthetics, being able to see light emitted from other players would add so much to the atmosphere in the game. I know it could cause performance issues, but if we have the option to turn it on or off, or the ability to limit how many players whose light sources we can see (kinda like how we can already limit how many players we can see in detail), I think that would absolve any potential issues.
