Ok, there’s apparently some work on fractals leaderboards, but those will be reserved for only a fraction of the PvE community.
WvW has it for world performance and PvP of course for solo and team performance, but having been back to The Secret World again recently (god, love that game and its stories btw!), I also looked at this feature called Chronicle
Are Anet also capable of extracting stats for all the same things from their game (I’d wager a yes seeing as you’ve got counters for everything in the achievements).
Just some ideas of PvE leaderboards-type categories (with filters on friend list/guild/world/region(NA/EU)):
Top Miners/Lumberjacks/Skinners/Gatherers (top 10 players but also show your own ranking)
Top <beast> (e.g. Shade, Skelk, Risen) slayers
Top conquerors of <dungeon> (e.g. Honor of the Waves) or just over-all dungeon runners
The categories are boundless, but it could also feature more hall-of-fame like categories like a Queen’s Gauntlet section to show how many people in fact have manage to defeat Suriel, Subject 7, Liadri, etc. I.e. how many of the player base have in fact managed to defeat Liadri with 8-orbs?
Anyone else would like to see more statistics like this?

Not if it detracted from other development in any way. If not, then I wouldn’t be opposed. /shrug
map completion leader board
Top gatherer leaderboard would all be bots.
“Wow, that guy killed 3794714178427801 skelk! He must be awesome!”
Top gatherer leaderboard would all be bots.
This was my first thought lol.
I like the idea but of course there would be issues with it (as with everything). I personally don’t want my display name up on a leader board for anything… I feel like it targets my account in a negative way, but I can see how some don’t mind that. So it would be nice to be able to opt out of it. Additionally, people who don’t play that much would not be able to get on it, but tbh I don’t think this is an actual problem, but maybe the real problem is that if you come in late to the game there’s no way to catch up even if you play your heart out. So maybe this could be solved with “gatherers of the month” or something similar.
@ OP , the problem is your suggestions would only indicate either time spent playing or farming a particular aspect of the game. I don’t think that really needs to be encouraged.
You might as well just put a leaderboard for /age, which is why the current Achievement Points leaderboard is also a bit meaningless. (Though /deaths leaderboard could be funny as a wall of shame)
PvE is by its nature harder to measure skill leaderboards than PvP or WvW.
You could have some leaderboards for measureable stats like fastest Sanctum sprinter/Dolyak racer, or Aspect Arena average score leaderboards, but how do measure open world events?
Fastest dungeon clear times would just make berserker groups even more elitist, which we don’t need.
Why? Bragging rights? No – only sPvP needs that.
with the upcoming living story journal we could implement something like
achievement points gained within the living story (from two onwards)
it is repeatable and will be purchaseable in the future
and it is going to be with some difficult challenges as well
i think this might do the job better than most other suggestions xDD
sure there will be thousands of people on first place after he first update
but if anet comes with different difficult achievements with complete other ways to beat them
eventually the first place will only be with those who get the difficult
(please no its hard to get because its pure luck)
things every time
yeah… no clear first place… but still a good idea.. i guess..
Top gatherer leaderboard would all be bots.
would be a good way to find them though

I am guessing if they have the metrics to fill a Leaderboard, they already have the metrics to find the gathering bots. If not, then the development resources might be better spent elsewhere.
