So for a while now I’ve been kinda upset that there’s no halberd weapon in GW2, considering it’s my favourite type of weapon.

Last week, Daredevil came out and I’m loving every minute of it. Then a thought came to me: this is the perfect time to have a halberd skin for staves, as the Daredevil’s staff skills are all melee, mostly slashing and swiping like a polearm.

I do realise that this is only a game (yes, really, it is only a game). Nevertheless! A. Staff. Is. Not. A. Halberd. And a halberd. Is. Not. A. Staff!!

I am a (lapsed) Medieval Martial Artist & a re-enactor. I do know how to use a staff. I’ve won tourneys with it (a competent staffman will beat a good swordsman 9/10). The most dangerous attack is actually the thrust (which you cannot, in training or competition, use safely). I haven’t tried a halberd; they are vanishingly rare outside of “up / down, one line facing another” battle displays. Why? Because they’re very difficult to use safely. I may not have wielded one, but I know how they work, and I know what the risks are.

Sorry, Yukito, however much you love ’em, a halberd is not the same thing as a staff, I very much doubt you have the faintest idea how a staff should be used, and I would certainly object to your suggestion.

I know a staff is not a halberd, but what I am saying is that the way a staff is used by Daredevil, means a halberd SKIN would work.
