Next year, there needs to be an additional tool tip or hinting thing for colorblind people. The game is hard enough with getting the timings right, but made a lot harder when some of the colours look the same, and when they are moving down fast its hard to see where they came from to match them up with the keyboard numbers.

Maybe use very different colours next year, or separate similar colours more, as the 8 and 9 ones look almost the same to me, and the others can be confusing too.

Could also have the name of the colour there, which match to a name on the buttons. You would still have to get the timings right.

Hopefully I am not the only one been having trouble.

I totally agree. Not enough separation to allow us to participate. I enjoy the mini games but still is difficult for players with disabilities. I like to be challenged but some are too difficult for me. The game is still my favorite.

The colors don’t even factor into it on me. If you aren’t already doing this, make sure your camera is aimed down onto the area you’re facing. Then (using normal keyboard keybindings) place your left pinkie on 1, ring finger on 2, etc.; these will be the four notes/lines on the left side. Then have nothing on 5. Then right index finger on six, and place the rest of your fingers accordingly; these will be the four notes/lines on the right side. I find if I’m looking down onto the board with my fingers in place, it’s easy for me to see which button I need to press for each light.

I’m not colour blind but as far as I’m aware I don’t use the colours at all. I never even look at my skill bar when playing.

I do it the same way RoseofGilead described – reset skills to the original keybinds, put one finger on each key, the camera above and behind my character, and simply press the key that matches the lane. I think of them entirely in terms of numbers rather than colours. (Although I think the middle two might be darker, which helps me spot where the ‘break’ is, but that might also be my imagination, I’m not in game to check.)

I also put my mouse cursor in the middle so I split the ‘keys’ (as in piano keys) into 4 and 4.

I pay no attention to the colours either. To do so is simply making it overly hard.

(also, don’t rebind keys. There’s a 2nd column on the keybinding options, use that for secondary bindings as that allows you to keep the bindings you currently have as well.)

I’m colourblind and find the bell choir to be one of my favourite mini games in the game. Colours have nothing to do with being successful in bell choir, you just need to pan the camera to face the ground, left hand on buttons 1-4, right hand on 6-9 and just bash away.
