[Suggestion] Salvage Glob of Dark Matter
Anyone else want this option?
that would be neat
The issue with this is that it could theoretically give exotics way too many ectos. Unless they remove the ectos as a “drop” for salvaging Exotics.

I agree that there needs to be more uses for Dark Matter, but I don’t think salvaging into ectos is a good idea.
It would undermine the ecto economy and/or result in exotic prices spiking.
I think a Dark Matter eating item would be a better solution, personally. Just like the other ascended material eaters, it’s just something to help get rid of an item you don’t really need/have an excess of. It doesn’t guarantee mounds of profit, just maybe the occasional rare material or piece of gear.
The difference would be that 1 Glob of Dark Matter is eaten at a time rather than 50 (it seems more fitting considering the average number people obtain through general play).

I have all 3 “eaters” right now and I have to say I really do not like them, but that is due to the fact that they mostly just give you junk, so I really would not want another one for eating my dark matters, salvaging to crystalline dust would be fine with me or just add more recipes that require them, so no, no more eaters please.
I would prefer some recipes for new skins that use them. And make them tradable.
ANet may give it to you.
Completely agreed. Please, just do it. I never ever used a glob od dark matter, so I am about to reach the 500 (Maximum stack on my collection atm) and still don’t find a use for it. I feel bad, because it was suposed to be valuabe considering from where it come from.

That’s precisely the point though.
If the eaters gave you a mostly predictable and valuable out-come each time, then it would undermine the economy for that reward item.
It’s terrible economics to allow an item of little/no value be exchanged for an item of high value.
For example: 50 bloodstone dust has little to no value (few applications with an oversupply). Convert that into a Gift from Mawdrey and you end up with items with little value on average. This is balanced. There is no sudden upgrade or huge profit, but the additional benefit is that it saves inventory/bank space and eases players minds who don’t want to throw the material away.
This is the way things are. There are very few things in-game which transform a cheaper item into a more expensive one, unless it requires a large gamble or something that’s time consuming.
If you want to be reasonable, ask for more uses for Dark Matter, but don’t expect anything that will result in you profiting from the material.
Salvaging dark matter should yield 1-2 crystalline dust. I can never have enough crystalline dust but I do have more than enough globs of dark matter. You can already guess what materials I need more of

If you’re never crafting ascended gear, go ahead and just trash the globs. I dont think Anet’s going to give them another use for quite a long time, let alone an “eater” because of their obtainment method.

I have a problem with deleting itens, thats why I still have polla, 250 mystical cogs, Instant trait reset (Yeah..), Pvp salvage kit and there it goes..
I.. just, can’t do it, unless I think its worth.
Mawdrey II and Princess gives me a rare a day, it sometimes feels like. That’s not too bad when you’re getting a stack of Dragonite Ore and Bloodstone Dust every day you play.
It honestly feels to me that crafting ascended insignias/inscriptions is more expensive than just buying low on the TP (though actually getting one there can demand a bit of luck). I never use Dark Matter because of that. Even if it’s cheaper, it still means salvaging exotics and hoping you’re lucky enough to get enough Dark Matter to make what you’re making. If you don’t have any, then it becomes somewhat high-risk luck based, unless you’re swimming in gold, especially if you don’t have a BL Salvage Kit.
An eater kind of seems underwhelming for Dark Matter though, yeah. With the Vision Crystal ingredients, you get swamped with them playing normally. Dark Matter has a very specific way of being obtained.
If you don’t want a guaranteed way of getting, say, ecto from them, there’s always the possibility of making them tradeable with the ecto gambler, but it would need to demand a decent handful. iirc you could salvage up to 3 from an exotic, and lowest exotics that yield dark matter probably go around 80s-1g(?). You do the math for what’s balanced for that kind of thing. Just something to help sink extra Dark Matte.

Go to gw2spidy. Look up the more profitable ascended inscriptions/insignias. Make insignias/inscriptions, sell them, use profits to buy ectos or whatever. Problem solved. We all go disco party now <(‘-’<) ^(’ – ’)^ <(‘-’<) (>‘-’)>

I don’t see the point. You can convert dark matter-> gold through ascended inscriptions/insignias. Since gold makes the world spin ’round in this game, you can turn it into pretty much anything.

Because I do not want to lay out 50-60g worth of mats to make 10g, you may enjoy that and that’s fine, but I would rather have a much more casual use for them, maybe a recipe that uses a few golds worth of mats instead, point is not everyone wants to invest large sums of gold each time they craft something.
