I am currently setting my traits after having a short gaming break and being too lazy to think about traits.
While doing this I found out that one thing which would be really good to have would be the possibility to save 3-4 sets/builds of traits for different occassions (maybe the same could go for skills?). I may for instance like to have different traits depending on if I play alone or in a group and it’s quite a fuss to reset them all individually – and I’d have to remember exactly what they were! (which is probably the hardest part)

The ability to save builds was also one of the really good aspects of Guild Wars 1. It was a fast way to adapt to different things you wanted to do. As resetting traits became easier now, I think it would also be a good addition to Guild Wars 2. Being able to easily share builds with others was very nice too, of course, but the ability to just save them would already make a big difference.

That’s a thing I would really like to see introduced!
Swapping traits on the fly sounds pretty awesome.(We can do that, but it still takes me ~15-20 seconds of swapping time to change gear/weapons/traits)

I’ve been waiting for this since the release. It was for me always a key element of Guild Wars to be able to adjust yourself to the situation and use every tactical advantage possible.

I can in fact carry every weapon in the inventory, but when I wanna swap on my Guardian from staff/scepter(ranged) to hammer/greatsword I just wont have the time to reset all my traits in the nightmare court dungeon for example where I cannot fight melee sometimes.

This is a huge disadvantages. The ability to swap between builds “in” a dungeon for example would add very very much depth. I’m not able to memorize builds for all 8 dungeons for example. But if I could save my own builds and develope/adjust them to my playing style, I would regain the tactical advantages I used to bring in Guild Wars 1 to combat.

I remember the MMO-Manifesto when Arena Net told us they bring everything from the original Guild Wars to Guild wars 2 – but this is obviously the most integral part of Guild Wars 1. I think that many GW1 Veterans would be happy about that ability.

It would also improve the community if we would be able to discuss builds and exchange them. That doesnt necessarily means that everyone would play for example the 55 HP monk. Guild Wars 2 is much more diverse and a build that works for one player wont work for the other. There are always adjustments to be made.

I hope that you at least consider integrating it. I got 7 of 8 professions on 80. And I’m simply not able to memorize all traits when I swap fast to another character. Therefore I’m not able to effectively play all of my characters with trade changes.

The save function would allow my to save my thoughts I’d on the class a month ago and work with them today.

Been requested many, many times (forum search doesn’t work though, so no wonder).

Official answer:

… store far less data inside templates when those happen.

THIS excites me Are we going to be able to store templates? That would really be a big big step!

No ETA on templates. However, the new build tech brings us muuuuch closer than before.

20 level 80s and counting.

I would like it if you could also load a build you have previously saved

Suggested this as well in my analysis. Trait template saving (and eventual stat saving for legendary items) would not only make a lot of sense, I feel it is a prerequisite to move the game further.

Suggestion: Take it a step further. Saving builds and dual spec with outfitter. That way we can switch between gear/traits when out of combat on the fly.

This. From there its but a small step towards build and role diversity without excluding anyone.

I can totally agree that saving outfits with trait/weapon configurations would be awesome.
