There have been enough complaints about players not being able to fight certain bosses based on when those bosses show up in the rotation. With the new daily structure, we can add players logging on, checking the GW2 Temple or Dulfy boss timers (http://dulfy.net/2014/04/23/event-timer/), then logging off for 1.5-2 hours to wait out a boss for the daily.

The suggestion (begging, even) is simple and would alleviate a majority of the issue:

Add a second boss rotation.

Sync them for the same times, but offer a second option. For example, when Svanir is up, so it Wurm. It bears discussion as to whether doing this for Teq or Triple is worth doing the same. For normal bosses, we might see more reasonable map populations, instead of 70 people skill-spamming defense events or making a joke out of the boss. For Teq/Triple, guilds might be able to organize better by not having every add-on getting sucked into one event, but instead split between them.

If the rotation was done to limit boss loot, it’s failed. The boss rotation is on farm, and it’s still littered with problems. While the boss events on timers is helpful for players, a single rotation is not suitable for how players gather up.

actually makes sense.

albeit, i think they should first make more challenging bosses. Upgrading bosses such as Claw of Jormag, The Shatterer, a couple of the Orr Temples.

Thing is, there is only two challenging events (even if you got good guilds), that is Wurm and Teq. Everything else can be done by AFKing either with a ranged weapon or a melee weapon (depends on event) and pressing the heal button occasionally.

A choice is good, but only if there is more then one choice.

The rotation was done due to the megaservers. The bosses used to spawn during a window of X time after Y time had passed from when they last spawned.

So Maw would spawn during a 15 minute window, on hour after he last spawned. I’m just making the numbers up for the example, I don’t know what Maw’s window or down time were.

But that last spawned time requires maps to stay up. With the megaserver, they don’t. So they had to change how the big bosses spawned.

The problem with your suggestion is that it could splinter the population too much. Shatterer is an afk boss, but you still need the numbers for DPS. Too many off doing Jormag could spell both failing since both require a fair amount of DPS for more maps than what currently happens. Both would likely fill one map. But without them overlapping, a second or third map may get enough participants.

And that’s peak time. What about non-peak time players? They may barely get the DPS required if at all for Claw or Shatterer and your suggestion would split them in half.

They should leave one mostly afk world boss dragon. Give the casual, no teamspeak, etc crowd a dragon. Claw does have the least amount of allowed afk between the two non-buffed dragons.

I know why the rotation exists. It’s also problematic, as described above.

Honestly, with Megaserver, it might not reduce the player zerg size at all. But all those bosses scale with the number of players, so it’s also very doubtful that there would ever be less than 20 or so. Considering I’ve done Mark II in about 2 minutes with 5 people, but 5 minutes with 50, I’ll just assume that max capacity is actually a hindrance.

I’d love to see a red post about what minimum number the bigger bosses like Shatterer and Jormag are tuned for. But, I doubt halving the 70+ zerg into fun-sized 30-40 groups would hurt their success rate. There’s enough accusations of the content being faceroll easy, anyway. Shatterer is utterly AFK. Claw has the stupid mega-fearpush BS and area damage that means you at least have to move to not get downed.

Where I’m less sure about this suggestion is for the big world bosses like Teq and Triple.

Still, it’s better for users to have a chance at success than no chance at all because a boss spawns outside their play time.

Mark II possibly.

But I know Shatterer has failed pre-megaserver due to too few people. I’d imagine Claw would as well. Just due to the timer they have.

I still say they should leave one dragon for the casual group that doesn’t do Teamspeak, doesn’t care nor wants to have any build but that which they choose and their build may not be anywhere near good for a boss like Teq or Triple. At least with Jormag, they can’t be AFK for it.

And the bosses do already sometimes overlap. The Hard core bosses always overlap with another world boss.

In just 35 minutes both Shatterer and Tequatl will be up.

Every 15 minutes a world boss on the timer spawns. Every 15 minutes.

No matter what is done, there will ALWAYS be a boss that doesn’t spawn during someone’s play time. The game should not be catered to the people who have limited play time for every little thing. Heck, the bosses being on a timer is in their advantage as they know when it’s coming up and don’t spend 2 hours waiting during the boss’s window like was done before the megaserver.

The ONLY way to cater to them is to have every boss spawn at the exact same time right after each other. That way no one will ever miss it. It just died? Well, wait 2 minutes and it will spawn again. That’s the only way to ensure that every boss is available to everyone no matter what time they can play.

And I’m sure you can agree that the bosses should not all have a constant, I’m always spawned state.

Don’t be so sure~ But, definitely not a Baron Longshore degree of respawn, where the next is up before the carcass finishes despawning.

Constantly on? Nah. There’s no reason for that. Once per hour feels about right, in lieu of having play data. But there’s been plenty of people who weren’t happy with 2-, 3-, or 6-hour rotations. It’s a lack of choice at best, or worse, disenfranchising players.

What I’d consider optimal is minor bosses hourly, major bosses 90-120 minutes, and giving players an option of what they want/need to hit for their goals.
