Hey, i was thinking about an idea why not to make tomes of knowledge to be sellable in the trading post.
what do you think about it?

No – I think they should be account bound as they are now.

They’re useful even on level 80s because you happen to get skill points out of it. No point making them vendor trash when a single skill point can net about half a gold in profit.

meh, I get a feck load of skill points… and making gold via skill points is annoying…I think most people would be happier to vendor them.

+1. It would be nice if these were not account bound. Selling them on TP would be all the better.

You can use them to heal yourself in combat.

Basically getting your character to level 80 by tome of knowledges isnt that an insane advantge and by making them sellable it will just solve leveling phase for people who are tierd of it

its not a bug basically beacuse each time you level up you heal up

Pretty much. But then that is EXACTLY what would happen if they were made sellable on the TP. Because why learn to play the game, or a new profession when you can just buy your way to level 80?

Then I buy gems for sure for more character slots and gold to buy tomes…I am sick of leveling in Gw2…I really hate it…Gladly I made somehow to be lvl 80 on warrior,my main in every game and somehow a second 80,a thief…but that one in Eotm mostly…I just don’t like the leveling nor the alternate leveling methods beside Tomes.

Do you know that leveling up while downed rallies you?

I would like this when leveling an Alt, and I don’t see too much of a difference from Crafting, since the same logic would apply.

Gems > Gold > Crafting Material

before they increased cap to 500 on the Crafting Professions, I could go from level 1 to 80 in a days times.

I’d be happy if they gave us something good to spend skills on. I think my main char has like 350 of them.

$200 for a level 80?

That’s ridiculous, considering it takes half the amount of time to reach level 80 in this game than it does in WoW and they charge $60 for max level.

I could see tomes being on the gem store. However as Chase, said it would be expensive to level to 80 through gems. But adding such a feature would increase the cries of “Pay to Win”, and “This is unfair because I had to level the normal way!!” And lastly @chase: This isn’t WoW, and such comparisions are ultimately wrong anyway.

its called mystic forge, you need tons of sp for everything there, hence why they are not used anywhere else

Leveling is an expliot and should be nerfed.

Actually now that you mentioned that, crafting used to give a lot more experience and people complained that you could buy your way to max level with it. ArenaNet responded by nerfing crafting. Now you can’t get to level 80 with just crafting, you have to start from like level 56.

In addition, ascended armor being added to the game drove the price of lower level materials and now its not so effective to level by crafting as getting tomes is easier to do so.

true, you used to get a full 10 levels, now its only 7 per craft. and I never heard about complaining (which tbh here people will generally cry over spilled milk) since every time someone ask what’s the fastest way to level the first 2 response is Crafting and WvW, both ingame and on the Fourms.

and true, Ascended Weps/Armor drove up the price so its not really as cheap as it onces was. tho if bought by gems, its still the same as it was back then, even if you don’t get the full 80 levels. Before Ascended stuff, $50 would get you around like 100 gold, now $50 bucks gets you what? like 300g, same difference really If by gems.

Tomes would be easier to lvl I continue to agree, if sold by TP or Gems.

well for one, you can’t leve lfrom 2-80 anymore.

but people still power level via eotm, I don’t see whats so wrong with wanting to skip the leveling process. It’s dull, especially the 4th or 5th time. (and anyone who does enjoy it, well you can still level normally, just like you can at the moment.)

Others who don’t use eotm, save tombs from pvp, have a friend who’s planning to level his next alt via tombs he has saved. (think he has enough for one, maybe even 2 alts to 80.. ).
That’s an alt he has no idea to play, and won’t learn til level80… but he’s perfectly able to do it. should the people against leveling, want to stop this? you’re only allowed use a tomb every second level? lolz.

Just let people skip leveling if they want to.

Which in itself is one of the reasons that WoW are facing a mass exodus due to Blizz giving up on thier own game content by selling ways to skip 90% of it !! ( along with refusing to fix dead servers )

Oh right because you use every skill while leveling or get into lots and lots of dungeons when you’re a lowbie. Gawd, I forgot how hard open world pve was and map exploring. Geez how ever are there skill-less people running around?

While you may not use evry skill while leving, it helps alot in LEARNING to play your class by leveling. Although you can jump into pvp at level 1 amd have full access to everything, there is a big difference between pvp and pve. Also no one jumps into a new class, heads to pvp and starts owning, even if they fully understand how combat works. Its the process of leveling thats important to learning to play your class. Even level 80s have difficulty running a dungeon for the first time. Now imagine a new player. Sees he can buy his way up to level 80, decides to do it, because thats when all the “good stuff” happens. They have no idea what to, and join in a pug. Would you rather do a dungeon with them, or with a player who leveled up normally and understands how to play his profession and is first time in dungeon?

Precisely. WoW has begun to make a huge profit by officially allowing players to pay 60 bucks for a straight level 90. Doesn’t seem so wrong if ArenaNet starts doing the same thing, cos man, this company seriously needs money…
