I have a suggestion about re-designing some of the existing shortbows. It’s a simple process of “stretching” some of them by about 50%. Nearly half of the current bows are extremely short, so short that they look like toys. It looks especially bad when you fire an arrow which is nearly twice as long as the bow you are using. Longbows have a nice wariety in terms of size, with shortbows I don’t have much of a choice if I want to use a bow which is longer than 40cm.

I do agree some of them are a little too short.

That said, there are some like

which are quite long for shortbows :P

Longbows are too short, traditionally speaking they should be much larger than your person is, have you ever actually seen one? everything people know about bows is about shortbows, longbows are around 6-9 feet long, especially for a Norn, and the arrows are kitten near as long as I am tall! And yes, before you start talking, I do shoot bows, long and short, compound, recurve and single piece.

Shortbows are just fine, have you ever seen a crossbow, shortbows can be very very small, they’re denoted by their power capabilities of newer wood/metal compounds, not by their size. Shortbows can be less than a foot in size (1/3 meter for you outsiders) or the size of a smaller longbow.

I mean just look at how long that Longbow is compared to that poor little soldier in the first pic!

But seriously, the second one is what I’m talking about for ‘old ancient’ types of weapons like you see in mmo’s, it’s longer than she is tall, LONG bow.

A longbow should generally be approximately the same height as the archer. The Japanese Daikyu is a notable exception.

Some of GW2’s shortbows are a bit short but others are a bit long.
