I would assume you’re talking about in LS2 that you must watch the videos. This has been explained by Anet numerous times: the way characters move in specifically the LS cinemas is crucial to “connecting” pre-cinema to post-cinema. I believe it was confirmed by Anet they learned their lesson and cinema’s in HoT will not have this problem.
