First of all, to be clear: Clears throat
Yes, I KNOW GW2 is a social game. It’s an MMO, it’s meant to be played with other people. I understand this perfectly.
We all clear? Jolly good. On to the suggestion.

The option to have a private or a solo map loaded, like in GW1. This would be purely optional, perhaps a tickbox in the options menu perhaps. Any maps barring perhaps cities would be free of other players unless they are in a party with you or invited by the ‘host’.

This would allow one to roam a map without interference from those annoying Twilight-wielding Warriors that either drag half of the mobs to you or kill whatever it is you’re fighting then bugger off. Or when trying a Skill Point (Or Hero Points as they are these days). Seriously, it’s one of THE most infuriating things when you’re trying a Skill Point by yourself only to have several higher-level and better geared characters come along out of the blue and just kill it dead. To me, that is not a test of my skill, it’s a wasted effort.
Or just for those times when you want to run about the world on your own.

Granted, events like World bosses wouldn’t trigger in these maps unless there are significant numbers of other (invited) players along with you, either that or significantly scaled down which kind of defeats the object of these kinds of events in the first place.

Finally, you can avoid those bleedin’ farm trains. (Don’t get me started on those horrendous things.)

That’s my suggestion.
Commence with the hate-spewing!

Can we do this for the Silverwastes and up the difficulty by a lot so we have a nice challenge?

I really don’t see the point.

This is the only mmo I’ve ever played where I really like people around actually

I agree with Sylent, for the most part GW2 is alot more fun with people around! The world is more enjoyable when shared with others. Honestly if you are playing open world for the challenge, I’m afraid you are bound to be disappointed with or without other people, skill point/hero points are not hard to solo. They really aren’t going to be a “test of your skill” solo. If you want to test your self like that, try soloing dungeons/fractals etc, those would at least offer a bit more challenge.

Just a suggestion closing with “commence with the hate spewing” is pretty hate spewy/toxic xD. So if you wanted people to really consider what you said, maybe leave that out next time :P.

Wouldn’t this take a lot of server space to load an entire map for only one person?

Side note: Hero points or skill points were never s test of skill. Mostly you can auto attack and done. Or you push F to commune and done. Really no skill here…

Not going to happen. That would mean 1 instance of an entire map per-person… and as far as I’m aware they’re not the types to take technological risks…

Then it won’t be a MMO anymore if that was the case. LOL. Are you still thinking about the Ragnarok Private server era????

OP should look into Guild Wars 1. That game has all the instanced maps and solo play he could ever want to have.

Be careful what you ask for
ANet may give it to you.
