[Suggestion]Tequatl/Wurm: Anti-AFK
or they could just add like a simple messagebox asking you if you’re fighting teq/wurm. If you say no or don’t respond in a few minutes it just moves you to an overflow.
Some people may lie, but those are the griefers and they should be a huge minority, like 3 griefers per shard.
Haha, imagine the rage. “I just made myself a sandwich and now I can’t get into the map again”.
Sorry, bad idea. Better option would be to allow people to have their own instance, which if not filled by the group within X minutes will then be filled just like other maps.
“Whose Charr is this?”- “Ted’s.”
“Who’s Ted?”- “Ted’s dead, baby. Ted’s dead.”

For the one 1000000000000th time : NO
World bosses like tequatl and the triple wurm are NOT WoW raids. They should NOT be instanced. Instancing is a way to cut people without guild and newbies from elite content. Truth is, most of the people I did tequatl with are pug and a few of them are newbies each time.
I know it’s a pain to organize however people still manage to pull things off. There are more important issues elsewhere than AFKing for tequatl.

I don’t think it would cut anyone off of anything. Maps are created, you will get into one. Those guilds formed because of the content, not in an effort to be elite – it is my understanding everyone can join and that’s why they had to make a few guilds.
The only thing that would change is that people would not have to start an hour in advance to fill one map fast.

We did Tequatl as a PUG at 3 AM PST and downed him with 9 mins 53 seconds remaining with probably at least 8 to 10 people afking at spawn. It was probably the best PUG I’ve been to in ages. However, I agree with you that afkers can make or break Teq or Wurm.
Tequatl’s mechanics is doable, but Evolved Jungle Wurm is horrendous in PuGs due to the large coordination required for 3 bosses that are fairly unforgiving if you blow a burn phase on even one Wurm. It’s a horrid mechanic that a lot of people just don’t do the boss unless you are in TTS or another guild that is hugely organized. What makes TEQ more enjoyable than Wurm is the fact that it is in one location, dealing with one boss and not 3. Coordination is easier and much more doable on Teq in a PuG group than with Wurm.
It’s already tedious to have to join the map 1 hour early to get a good group. But the AFKers make organization worse.
Thus I propose the following special rule to be instated:
The maps Sparkfly Fen and Bloodtide Coast will boot each player to character select not acting manually for 5 minutes to the character selection screen. Automatically running does not break the AFK timer. This should be in effect 1 hour before the map’s respective World Boss spawns.
5 minutes is way too short.
10 minutes would be better.
However, I like the idea of personal instances much more.
