so I have been reading the posts about precurser rage and what it means to have a legendary i wanted to reinstate my idea that I had and got the idea that inspired my idea about. I have finally completed my Sunrise 2 days before my Bday 2/17/2014 and I wanted to throw this idea for horozontal pregression. we sometiems forget about the personal story and how it really connects us with the game and I wanted to express this idea i hade 11months ago. and wanted to get a feel for how the community feels and also wanted to get your guyses idea about how this system would work and what feedbacks from you guys as players of GW2 and also wanted to get ideas or expressions from players who already completed their legendary. and i wanted to quote a player that loved this idea. last post was 10 months ago

Would be nice if such a quest were added, that it would have branches throughout. We all know a large sum of people are after those obnoxious greatswords, but atleast they could have small variations in how they got them.
2 guys with an Eternity standing in la. One says," hey nice sword, I just got mine". The other says,“very nice, how was the trip to getting it?”… they stand in silence for a moment. Then one guy says," I… got to go.. need a break from this game".

Just wnated to throw an idea out on a table but have you ever wanted to earn your legendary or get your precuser. well here is an idea you may comment on this idea or help me bring this idea to the table or help this idea become perfect. with that here we go.
Get in-game mail telling you," hey I hear your legacy all over Tyria but I bet you’re wondering how to leave something behind in rememberance. If you’re interested see me.

starts off by having you choose the path splits like this example if you picked the legend of Twlight
Into the darkness or finding the old sorce of magic
+ Into the darkness —> despelling dark forces (bosses)= gift of darkness
the magic of Tyra ——> has you finding all sorces of magic=gift of magic
then after story up above you start
finding the inner might—> showing off your streangth to a DPS boss= Gift of might
Breaking the rune stone—> very diffocolt bosses henden thow tyra kill 100 bosses=100 Icy runestones
after the events of what you picked
+The magic of metal—> finding hiden Dwarvan armor or ingots need 250= Gift of metal
the Luck is there—> finding 77 Clovers spread out throw Tyra=77 mystic clovers
now the final challenge this one gw1 fan boys will go crazy for
Defeat your Doppelganger= Dusk (account bount precurser) Acivement= I am a Legendary
now the doppelganger has your exact wepon skills utilitys and even traits has the double your health and has the same elite skill as you. when entering to fight your doppelganger a debuff will be on you its called “watched by the doppelganger” during this your always in combat so you cant run away to full health and flip skills. by fighting the doppelganger its a test of skill and how you have mastered your class profession.

the + that are next to the legendary quest is what would change if you decide to choose a different legendary quest.
with enough support this may be a possibility

Why not? As he said, GW1 fans would go crazy over this. They did it in GW1, it fits lore-wise and lore is important in GW2.
I think this would work very well and would make legendary acquisition feel much more like a personal accomplishment/achievement compared to the luck/grind it is now.
This idea could also easily blend in with the already existing methods of acquisition.
For example: the Gift of Exploration which requires map completion, if all the other pieces needed for the legendary were scattered all over Tyria in all the proposed steps, then map completion would be happening during the hunt, you would be exploring Tyria and appreciating it even more lore-wise with this method.
Perhaps the Gift of Color as another example could require you to find 100 unique flowers accross Tyria for the dyes needed. You could even have them be semi-fickle flowers that you might have to check back on a few times for an available bloom, maybe even need to ask NPCs for knowledge about when they are in bloom to harvest the dye needed (perhaps they will only impart this knowledge after you help them complete their renown heart – which could then make that bloom active for your character) which will make it harder than just walking up to 100 different spots.
Yet another example: the Gift of Battle, you can create personal quest instances in the WvW maps that help you advance this acquisition by granting some WvW experience and Badges of Honor and you would probably gain some while fighting your way to the initial locations. This would also provide Anet another opportunity to tie WvW into GW2 lore more if handled well. What if it also required you to fight all the random and unique monsters that show up from time to time in WvW, like the wurm by north-west supply camp and the Hirathi leader in the North-east corner. It would also be interesting if they built upon the new ruins capture points for bloodlust – what if you could earn some WvW experience and Badges of Honor for your Gift of Battle by fighting spectres of the old inhabitants of those ruins? That would be pretty exciting and be wonderful lore additions to the game.
