Would it be possible to add a timer remaining for “Festivals” achievements, much like the timers already in place on Daily Achievements?
It would be nice with an easy way to find out roughly how much time there is left to do stuff, rather than having to dig through 15 sites of information to try and find some post regarding what date/time the special activity will end only to have it end in “guesses based on the previous two years’ events”.

Not revealing the date is intentional. The timer would have said that LNY was going to last the standard 2 weeks. For estimating it, simply look at the wiki.

Quite possibly it would have stated two weeks, because it was changed yesterday if I understood Gaile Gray correctly (atleast that’s when they announced it will end on February 7th), but even so it would’ve given people an intended date. Most festivals end on the planned date so I don’t see a harm in providing the date in an easy to find location. There’s also nothing stopping ANet from extending the timer and adding a week to an event, the only thing people would really QQ about would be if an event ended prematurely.. :P

Also, where on the Wiki was this info? A lot of people assumed LNY would last 2 weeks because that’s how long it lasted last year, and the year before that, but I was unable to find a definitive answer about LNY 2017.. If the end date was on the Wiki prior to yesterday please give me a link to this info as I must have missed it. Thanks!

I said for estimating it, see the wiki, as in look at the previous years to see the start and end dates. Festivals are only filler to serve as a distraction, which they’ll extend when they want to push something back. In this case, there was always going to be a patch on the 7th because of PvP, so it was likely always planned. This year really isn’t lining up nicely for them. SAB will also need to be extended, or delayed by a week on the current schedule.

If they actually had a timer though, you can bet it would always show the usual duration. Once they promise a duration, they can’t shorten it, and extending it ahead of time only leads to speculation.

Agree with OP….but…if I had to choose:

I’d rather have the festival announcement removed from my UI – it’s cluttersome.

Once I see it, and maybe clicked it, can it go away? I now know there’s a festival on – no need to have it constantly on my screen anymore.
