I honestly don’t know if this has been a topic on its own before, but I’ve seen the sentiment around enough that I figured more people might be interested in talking about it.

So, I’m sure we’re all fairly familiar with the “titles” we’re granted over the course of the Personal Story. It starts off fairly innocuously, with titles like the “Hero of Shaemoor”, or the “Slayer of Issormir”. Over time, as your reputation builds, you are granted new titles. When you join your Pact order and prove yourself worthy, you gain the title of “Lightbringer” (Order of Whispers), “Crusader” (The Vigil), or “Explorer” (Durmond Priory).

Over time, your titles grow even greater. You become known as the “Commander of the Pact”, the “Slayer of Zhaitan”, the “Dragon Slayer”, and much more.

Yet, for all we’re referred to by these titles, as much as we link them to our character and see them as part of our character’s persona, there’s no way to actually display these merits in-game.

Personally, I’ve always wondered why these were never implemented into the Title system. We’ve had it since launch, and it’s pretty apparent these “names” were supposed to be important to our characters, yet nothing ever comes out of them.

I’d personally like to think that my Charr Guardian was proud of his work with the Vigil, so even after becoming Commander of the Pact, he’d still personally represent himself as a Crusader. That’s a title that means something to him, something that represents how he sees himself. Yet, there’s no way for us to show this off.

So, in light of that, can we get a dev response on this? Is this something that’s possible to do within the game? Has it ever been talked about? Is there a possibility, no matter how slim, of this happening?

Love to hear from the other players as well. What “false titles” are your favorites, which ones do you want to see implemented the most for your characters?

I would certainly like to hear their official stance on titles. It feels like they have tons of opportunities to add awesome titles, but are choosing not to for some reason. I can make excuses for development time in some aspects, but it can’t be that difficult to add titles to the game, unless there was just no future-proofing for the feature at all.

Of all the things that are said to be “easy” to program, I think this is one of the few that legitimately would be. They already have the structure for titles in-game, they would just have to set up flags to determine when they are unlocked. So, something as simple as “complete X mission”, and you would receive the title as part of your mission rewards.

Racial titles:

Hero of Shaemoor- on completion of the “Defending Shaemoor” story step
Warband Legionnaire- on completion of the “Fury of the Dead” story step
Wyld Hunt Valiant- on completion of the “Fighting the Nightmare” story step
Slayer of Issormir- on completion of “The Great Hunt” story step
Snaff Prize Savant- on completion of the “Snaff Would be Proud”, “The Snaff Prize”, “The Things We Do For Love”, or “Defusing the Problem” story step

Order titles:

Novice- on completion of the “Setting the Stage” story step after joining the Durmand Priory
Explorer- on completion of the “Mightier than the Sword” story step
Magister- on completion of the “On Red Alert” story step

Initiate- on completion of the “Setting the Stage” story step after joining the Order of Whispers
Agent- on completion of the “An Apple a Day” story step
Lightbringer- on completion of the “Suspicious Activity” story step

Recruit- on completion of the “Setting the Stage” story step after joining the Vigil
Crusader- on completion of the “Minister’s Defense” or “Quaestor’s Siege” story step
Warmaster- on completion of the “Forewarned is Forearmed” story step

Finally, Pact titles:

Commander of the Pact- on completion of the “Forging the Pact” story step
Champion of Orr- on completion of the “The Source of Orr” story step
Slayer of Zhaitan- on completion of the “Victory or Death” story step

These, to the best of my knowledge, are the exact missions in which the titles are awarded, with the exception of the Initiate, Recruit, and Novice titles, which have been moved from the 5 possible racial stories in which the player joins the respective orders, to the one story step everyone goes through right after.
