I suggest adding the ability to transmute the item description, together with its skin and name, to a new weapon, armour, or even trinket (Yes I want to transmute a trinket!). Item stats and upgrades should be isolated and be only things the original item remains.
There are 2 issues regarding item descriptions (blue text on the item popup) right now: descriptions not following the skin/name; and lots of descriptions on items are underused.
1. Descriptions on items are underused
Many karma vendors sell weapons, armours, and trinkets with unique names and item descriptions. Some are about lores, some are funny and some are insightful. Most of these items, however, are either low levels, low tiers or with undesirable stat combinations which do not appeal to end game players.
I have many times passed a completed heart, looked at an interesting item description, appreciate it a bit but decided to move on because I would not use that item in combat. I want to utilise them in my journey.
2. Descriptions stuck to original items
Currently with the wardrobe system, the name of a transmuted weapon/armour follows the skin but not the stat (original item). The item description decribes the item in “Transmuted” coloumn instead. https://dviw3bl0enbyw.cloudfront.net/uploads/forum_attachment/file/180367/gw393.jpg
In my opinion it is better for item descriptions matching (new) skins/names as well. Guildwars 2 is more about appearance than stats and thus more stuff should relate to the look rather than stats.
P.S. To new players, weapon/armour name was based on the stat before 2014 September Feature Pack. So your pristine transmuted Infinite Light would have called Berserker’s Pearl Sabre in the past.
However, my suggestion may raise some problems:
A. Most of unique name karma items share a few basic skins. You cannot have a clever name in Skritt Poker without showing a generic sword on your hand.
B. Some items can be obtained once only. If a player deletes that item, there is no way to transmute that item description again.
