[Suggestion] Unbind crafting materials
Gate of Madness
Yeah, bound crafting materials available to non-crafters is a completely pointless idea.
Or for Six’s sake, unbind the Bloodstone Dust. Everyone has fifteen stacks of the stuff.

Excuse me, if my idea will sound a bit weird, but why not accomplish that by adding marriage? I know some players dislike the idea(I don’t know why, I honestly think it’s optional), but wouldn’t adding that to the game in some form be nice? I doubt they will give you an option to sell ascended materials, but I think exchanging it between 2 people would be acceptable.
Let’s say your wife&you get married in the game, you can now both access eachother’s bank vaults. How does that sound? Too crazy? Too weird? Because I honestly would love to see that in the game.
An actual roleplay in a roleplaying game would be weird, huh? XD
Heh. I think I have like 20 stacks of BS dust that I have no interest of using for crafting any ascended items. I have a guildie who would like to have them but alas, Anet are just a bunch of meanie people. So she gave up and no longer plays the game.
How’s that for justifying this “brilliant” idea of binding crafting materials.
Full set of 5 unique skills for both dual-wield weapon sets: P/P and D/D – Make it happen
PvE – DD/CS/AC – If that didn’t work, roll a Reaper or Revenant.
At the very least I would propose to anet to bring the requirement of turning bloodstone dust to bricks to lvl 400. That way people who don’t really want anything to do with ascended for the time being can turn them into bricks to gain more space. Of course they could just throw them out, but I doubt they would do so if they are not sure.
the whole reason those items exist is so that there is a small portion of getting ascended that is not circumvented via gold.
when they unbind them, that will no longer be the case, and a great many things will serve little purpose again
I’m a crafter but since my 2 crafts (jeweler and cook) are the only crafts that won’t be upgraded, ascended is useless unless they allow for selling it.

So maybe they’ll have Ascended cooking recipes from Bloodstone Dust? A guy can hope.

Actually my idea didn’t come from there, I just really wanted marriage in this game myself…but yeah, I did see the anime. xD

having people with banks full of ascended crafting mats they will never use serves very little purpose as well. let them sell those mats so they can make some gold. binding crafting items is just making them worthless to people who don’t craft.

they need to slap a price on bloodstone dust so you can merchant--don’t allow it on the tp thought it will only end up like silk scrap prior to ascended armor--the mass amount of it.
I think they need to stay account bound.
I’m not a huge fan of having everything purchasable for gold, because of 2 problems:
1. Pay 2 win. There needs to be things that I can’t obtain via gem conversion.
2. The problem that arises when you make every piece of content directly or indirectly reward the same currency/reward (ie, gold) is that people start comparing which one is the most efficient to do. And since its impossible to balance it all you’ll have dead content everywhere.
I know that the market will balance itself out, but that take time, especially given that people have huge stacks of ascended materials stacked up ready to sell at the start. Even after that, you’ll go through periods of high (prices are good, people doing metaevents everywhere), and low (prices are at the bottom, no one does events because there’s not enough people). That’s a very disruptive effect.
I am in favor of giving them a mechant value however, providing that its a sensible value.
Might not have this desire to unbind them if there were a way to “downgrade” them via the Forge.
10 Dragonite Ore + 1 Ori/Mithril Ore + 5 Philosopher Stones + 5 Crystalline Dust → 20-30 Ori/Mithril
10 Bloodstone Dust + 1 Crystalline Dust + 5 Philosopher Stones + 1 Glob of Ectocplasm → 10-15 Crystalline Dust
10 Empyrean Shards + 5 Philosopher Stones + 1 Silk/Gossamer Bolt + 5 Crystalline Dust → 10-15 Bolts of Silk/Gossamer
Just throwing the ideas out there.

1. I wouldn’t call it ‘Pay 2 Win. Ascended gear give you suck a minor stat boost above Exotic that it really doesn’t matter.
2. there are already dead zones everywhere. and when it comes to zones that drop the ascended mats, the people that want the mats will still go there so they don’t have to buy them anyways.
Buying anything is an Option. nobody is making people buy them. you can still go farm it. and for those who don’t want them but still get them as random drops, it would be nice that they could sell them.

I can understand the account bound mats. However giving more recipies for bloodstone dust, for example, would be a much better idea. I am an ascended crafter, and have entirely way to much of the stuff. I don’t want to convert it to brick just yet as I need my obsidian shards for Dragonite ingots and empyreal stars. If I could throw in the MF and get some other, usable, dust I would be ok with that too.
It’s the chain I beat you with until you

Just wish we could turn like 25-50 bloodstone dust into 1 glob of ectoplasm, that itself would help a lot =(
The main point is, which was already mentioned, its not meant to be a reward but a material gate towards ascended gear.
People who dont use it, think they lose out on something, if they destroy it butthey dont.
Dont unbalance the economy by making ascended gear available for gold just because some people feel entitled to get some coin for stuff they dont need.

I agree with the OP. Un-bind ascended mats and, if I may be so bold, ascended gear.
If we are to play the game the way we want, we should be able to grind for gold and use said gold to purchase ascended gear rather than being forced—if we want ascended stuff—to grind for mats and spend way too much time in the crafting menu. I personally find crafting (with the singular exception of cooking) to be incredibly dull, and would much rather just play the game, slowly accumulating gold, and eventually buy ascended stuff on the TP. For a game that advertises as letting every player play the way (s)he wants, this should be an option.
