Hello,

First off, I like a challenge just like the next person. I also enjoy something that cannot be completed in one day and has to be fought over. I also enjoy encouragement to complete the task through great rewards. That’s what makes a lot of collections in this game unique and fun and addicting to strive for.

Then there is the Treasure Hunter achievement. The huge time sink for this achievement is astronomically unfair. Its almost impossible to achieve for the average player. The reason for this is because of the ultra rare drops of the various exotics required to complete this achievement. Sure, you can buy them off the Trading Post, if you are rich enough to afford the literally 1,000s of gold it requires.

One of the drops requires the Cathedral of Eternal Radiance Meta event. Without going into a huge rant into why the Eternal Radiance Meta needs updating (short version: you shouldn’t punish players for completing objectives/events), this Meta is ultra, ultra, ultra, ULTRA rare due to the nature of how it is designed. This makes the item required for the achievement nearly impossible to achieve through normal farming attempts.

The reward for this achievement is in my opinion average, if not below average when compared to the time sink required for it. The reward itself is fine if the achievement was actually attainable in a reasonable fashion.

Now that I have highlighted some of the wrongs, here are some suggestions I have. The community at large likely has better ideas, but I figured I would at least offer some up since I am the one with the feedback report.

Suggestions:

1a) Change the exotics to either drop more often, or change the achievement to require their blue versions instead of the exotics. The blue versions themselves don’t even drop that often, so this achievement is still a challenge to complete even with that minor tweak.

1b) Change some of the exotic requirements to their blue versions, but keep a couple of exotics for a requirement to complete the achievement. I call this suggestion my “compromise” one, where I would rather have 1a but will take 1b.

2) Remove the Cathedral of Eternal Radiance item requirement completely (long term, update this Meta along with all the other Meta’s that require an event to fail before triggering). You can either add something to replace this item, or just plain remove it entirely.

3) After fixing the achievement, reward anybody who managed to achieve it the hard way with a unique title, Black Lion Chest keys, special daily chest, etc etc. I get that the players who have manged to get this achievement done worked their rear ends off (either by farming or by farming for gold and paying for it that way) and deserve praise for doing so and don’t deserve to be punished by making this achievement easier for current and future players.

4) Make it so other players can farm the treasure chest in another players home instance. I see zero reason why players who manage to complete this achievement can’t share their spoils with their fellow friends and guildies like any other home instance node. This would also encourage cooperative farming so that more then one player can tackle the achievement to finish it faster. Technically you can do this now, but I don’t see anybody talking on the huge farming requirement to help a friend in need when they don’t get any reward themselves (not to mention the 300-400 gold they could get for looting an achievement item and selling it on the Trading Post).

Thank you for taking the time to read this feedback report and suggestion post.

One of the drops requires the Cathedral of Eternal Radiance Meta event. ….this Meta is ultra, ultra, ultra, ULTRA rare due to the nature of how it is designed.

My guild does it daily.

Often twice.

In primetime.

Quadruple ultra rare it is not.

I can’t agree with the OP’s assumptions that this is a difficult achievement. It can be done by saving or farming gold. It’s not meant to be easily achieved by the average player, without dedicating time or gold.

The intent seems to be to sink gold (from people buying the items) and to transfer wealth from the wealthier players to those who are poor (and lucky).

The reward it offers is minor — it’s basically a fancy version of the chest at the end of jumping puzzles. I don’t see any reason why that needs to be made available to folks farming someone else’s home instance.

I’m not against making some of the items on the list drop more frequently. I just don’t think it’s urgent or even that important.

I actually quite like it. In its current state it represents a tangible long term goal for me in the game that is already tracked (since lots of skin sets are not tracked in game directly). The only problem that you listed that I agree with, but is a bigger problem in general, is requiring events to fail in order to finish some collections. But that is not unique to this achievement

Well… it seems that the rewards you get out of this chest are horrible considering the amount of time and the cost of the stuff if you buy it off of the Black Lion. Maybe make the chest have a better chance at dropping higher and better stuff than the crap it drops now.
