I’m personally at the point where I don’t care about achieving or waiting for certain things like individual currencies… Currency based stuff doesn’t break the game anyway, like at all…

I’d like to see a system of currency conversions in place.

So gems to buy gold is there.

Gold to buy gems is there.

So let’s have a system where gems can buy ingame currencies and gold can buy ingame currencies. Like all currencies…

Honestly, who really cares if I can personally buy laurels to buy ascended recipes or trinkets at this point?

Maybe I need more badges of honor, who really cares if I bought some…

Who cares if I buy gems to purchase dungeon tokens for the skins…

Who cares if I want to supplement my karma for karma purchases…

Ok ok we can discuss certain things, but c’mon now… Most stuff is account bound and soul bound… Think it’s time to make a decent gem/gold sink for players and have them get “stuffz” for filling that sink…

haha lol never gona give it up eh?
still in need for laurels because you use/need more then average player
+1 for the hidden try lol

for currency exchange in general clear no
if anet would do something like this peopl would farm only most efective way and convert their stuff
so there would be no reason to play dungeons
if you whant that armor for example

before hot i suggest region based currencie some where
we got one for nearly every hot area a bit over the top but fine
i hope we get some where far away in the future
new ones for old regions and their world events
with new weaponsets
i also suggested that but we will see

oh and good luck with your next laurel try lol

It will never happen: the currencies are designed to be difficult to convert. Perhaps there are too many currencies and perhaps some currency costs are “artificially” or accidentally too high — at best, ANet would adjust the costs or adjust the methods of earning.

It’s bad for the game, for the economy, and in general, for the community to make it too easy to convert currencies. Each generally has a specific reason for existing and making them easily converted defeats the intended goal, and turns the game into something closer to various website/phone games that entice you to spend money just so you have the opportunity to buy more things to spend money on.

Several currencies were recently adjusted to make them no longer convertible:

  • Spirit Shards were divorced from XP.
  • Influence was converted to favor, which can’t be bought with gold or passively, nor can favor be converted to gold (as we could with influence).

Similarly, several currencies were made more difficult to convert, notably karma.

tl;dr there’s all sorts of reasons why ANet has made it difficult to convert currencies to gold or vice versa — if you want to suggest a change, be sure to take those reasons into account.

I actually think we could use some kind of “Writ of Exchange” in the Black Lion chests, to replace some of the worse drops. (Tomes, crafting bags.)

You can take the Writ and turn it in for any dungeon currency you want, maybe a few others as well. (Not Laurels, though.) I think people would find that more useful, and make the BLCs less likely to give you a “dud”, without unbalancing anything.

Sarcasm, delivered with a
delicate, brick-like subtlety.
