Suggestion for ANet: Live-action Movies
Since ANet isn’t a movie production studio they’ll probably need a outside studio to make it. Unfortunately given the fantasy nature of the game that would require a fairly decent monetary investment. WoW is worth the gamble given that even non-gamers know what WoW is. Although I’m not saying GW2 is in anyway obscure you would have a hard time finding people by randomly stopping people on the street and asking them if they know about it.
My feeling is that movies based on games tend to be lower quality when judged on their own merits without a linked interest in the source material. I also feel this about novels based on games or media, btw — as a youth I read a ton of Star Trek novels but only one or two had their own artistic value. It’s not that good stories can’t be told using an established setting, it’s that they don’t tend to be especially given the constraints on sticking to canon down to little character quirks. Woe betide the creative person who takes liberties with the source in order to tell a more tightly plotted tale!
Beyond that, WoW’s been talking about the movie for years. I think the project fell through once or twice before it finally took hold. GW2 just hasn’t been around long enough or made enough money on a corporate scale to attract serious movie studios.
I can do without two hours of live action Trahearne.
dont spoil it…

… have you ever thought of making movies out of them?
I hope they don’t.
Outside the gaming world GuildWars is not a household word like WoW or Minecraft and have not made it into the mainstream news much, so I don’t think if you ask a non gamer if they have ever herd of GuildWars then ask them if they have herd of the other two games you most likely will get a yes. With that said GuildWars the movie will most likely never happen. No movie studio will not take the project on and most likely will get a response like GuildWars what is that? But WoW and Minecraft movies are in the works so go see those when they come out, that’s the closest you are going to get.
put the correct term in but not everyone has kittens
Jeremy Irons would have played a great Trahearne.

But I’d still argue it’s more a matter of brand recognition by the average joe on the street, I’m basing this of course on the number of remakes, sequels and adaptations that Hollywood is turning out. The idea is that the more recognizable brand has the higher chance of being funded and made.
