Hi.
While the mastery system is fun and expansive, it doesn’t last forever and when you max it, experience gained is wasted. I suggest adding a repeatable mastery track (or rather, PvE reward track) which takes a lot of experience to fill and awards a choice of black lion goodies/tokens/rare seasonal old rewards/something usual/mats etc. Just give a choice to pick 1

Good idea but let us pick the suggested mastery track even if we do not have maxed mastery! I maxed gliding to not use endurance and the pact commander for autoloot but I honestly don’t even touch the rest because I don’t care about them.

Why has XP got to keep rewarding people? I really dont get this obsession with ‘wasted XP’. It’s not wasted XP, its just not relevant to you right now. As soon as new mastery tracks are added, it’ll be relevant again. Deal with it. I’ve had maxed masteries for months now and I honestly can’t see what people are obsessing about.

Giving more loot for doing PvE is just distasteful and causes even more imbalance between modes. The game mode which gets you the most gold/hr ratio out of all 3 game modes and you want more?

Kitten.

That would be an awesome thing to have. It would really make me feel like I have a reason to go back to some maps I rarely visit anymore if not leveling, and would give a goal to work towards while waiting for season 3.
Besides if pvp and wvw have repeatable tracks why not give the same for us pve people? I get that the loot gotten maybe shouldn’t be too op compared to the other modes, but a dye, a rare drop, etc. would be nice too.

I don’t get why every thread on this subject has to have a post like this. This is a game about personal progression and xp is one significant measure of that. When I see that XP text flash up after I kill something I feel that progression. When I know that xp is going nowhere, I feel like something I’ve earned is going to waste. But that’s just me. I’m not sure why you think that’s obsessive or distasteful but whatever.

I too think that the experience feels a bit wasted.

What I would do is much like what the OP suggested, but make it daily.

Make it another tab much like how we have Core, Fractal and Heart of Thorns separated, there’s only one Mastery and it has no Mastery Points required to invest, but once it fills it does inform you with a message to collect your rewards.

Have it give one of the following of the player’s choosing Daily:

- 3 Obsidian Shards
- 2 Mystic Coins
- 1 Tome of Knowledge

That’s it. Hell, if you feel those rewards are too much, make it 1 Obsidian Shard and 1 Mystic Coin. As long as the player has something to put the experience towards, you should expect a bit more play-time.

As for the Experience required for this repeatable, daily mastery track?

….That’s up to Arenanet, they should know the logistics, and you know I have no clue what the average player might do in a day. I don’t know if it would be a good idea for this daily track to be worth something like 2 million exp, or as little as 256 thousand. What I do know is that if they provide a balance to involve players going into content just a bit more to grind out that mastery for the day, it might be beneficial for all of us.

Because different people play games for different reasons. Maybe you find the game play fun and therefore the rewards are just icing on the cake and you don’t feel a need to progress in a game. But others find progression to be what makes the game fun and if they aren’t progressing towards anything, the game’s not fun anymore to them because it’s become pointless to kill enemies or craft items.

I do not like the idea of xp going to waste. Be it from crafting, exploring, or killing enemies or events. That feeling of progression is important to players.

I would love to get dungeon tokens myself as a possible reward for leveling. It doesn’t have to be a lot, just a few. But they could be used towards buying not only dungeon armor and weapons but also the rare armor that the dungeon vendors sell that can be salvaged for mats and ectos.

Be careful what you ask for
ANet may give it to you.

Good idea but let us pick the suggested mastery track even if we do not have maxed mastery! I maxed gliding to not use endurance and the pact commander for autoloot but I honestly don’t even touch the rest because I don’t care about them.

Nope, if such a thing is implemented it should require you to max your masteries first.

So that we waste our XP if we don’t have points?

What about the people who don’t play fractals, and therefor don’t have the fractal masteries unlocked, nor the points to do so (since they are locked behind fractal achievements)?

What about the people who don’t play raids, and therefor don’t have the raid mastery tracks unlocked nor any desire to burden a group with carrying them through a boss encounter to get the track unlocked?

If such a repeatable reward track is implemented, it needs to be open and selectable for every player, regardless of mastery status. If they don’t want the progression that the mastery system offers for whatever reason, don’t lock them out of getting the feeling of doing something else useful with their experience.

Personally, I’m not big about rewards. I hardly play anything in this game for the rewards, but rather for the fun of whatever content I’m doing. But I still have to admit that playing my second account, which still has a lot of masteries to level and points and achievements to collect, does give me a more satisfying feeling than playing my main account to try and force the last couple of missing mastery points (exp is long maxed).
