Currently each class can switch to any build basicaly without any limitation. It’s good that you can adapt your character to different game content or group composition or that you are free to experiment with different build ideas.

However I think it would be nice if each character could permanently choose one feature which would synergies with preferable play style. It suppose to be something that represents role you choose to play with your class. Effect should be impactful enough to make difference but not too much to make huge difference when you switch to another build.

Right now I can think of something like major trait but it sounds kind of boring. It should to be accessible in the late end game so I was thinking about bonus combined based on classes of my other 3 level 80 characters. Do you guys have any other ideas?

This option would add something unique to your class that other players with the same class won’t neccessary have. It would also promote replayability with the same class together with the different race / story line choice.

Maybe it would be better to allow possibility to change this perk but only for really high cost. Maybe even gem store exclusive?

What do you guys think?

You speak abozt something like “Talents” ?

Because that could work as some customization layer, that can be from Character to Character with the same Class different, as every character has its own unique talents which define the Character, how it is

Personally I like the idea behind sub classes ~ quoted from Chris Whiteside

So you want something that will make swapping builds more difficult, as if getting new armor, or moving armor between characters, wasn’t enough.

As an example, suppose you had a Ranger before Heart of Thorns and you chose to be some kind of marksman with extra bonuses to your damage (or other abilities) with bows.

Now with the expansion we got the Druid which gives a completely different style of play (healing). In your “system” I’d need to go make a new Ranger, select the more support based abilities and make them a Druid. While with the current system I just swap traits and specializations.

Why complicate things like this? There is already enough trouble with a certain racial skill which makes a certain build much more powerful. It IS a problem and you want to add more of that same problem to the game.

No. Right now everyone can do everything. This perk shoudn’t be such a deal like whole trait line. It should be something that gives personality to your class based on play style you are keen to play.

For example as a ranger
1) you like to be archer and play with the bow
2) you like to play melee
3) you like to support other people
4) etc…

One impactful and at the same time negligible bonus based on your personality and what you like.

We already have these kind of “impactful” and “negligible” perks with the racial skills, I don’t see the need to add others.

It can’t be both at the same time, it either has a big impact on a build or it’s not.
And I go back to my example, I chose 1) but then with HoT I will have to make a new character to use 3)
