I was just thinking… How cool would it be to have a function that allows you to see how many people have blocked/ignored you on your account with a /blocked

^_^ I think it would be a nice way to discourage players from being mean.

Example: If a player types /blocked they will see something like this:
“1,329,343 people have you on their ignore list.”

What is the community’s thought on this?

People blocked by 1,329,343 others probably don’t care how many people have them blocked.

It’s a bit negative for the game. Conversely, I wouldn’t mind seeing a Commendation system, so players can recommend one another.

I think a lot of people would be shocked by the amount of people they’ve been blocked by (judging by what a lot of people block by- literally you could just be talking in a different language or talking about something they aren’t interested in).

I think many people would be extremely curious about how many people have blocked them, but upon finding out a figure (as aforementioned, undoubtedly larger than you’d expect) they’d get upset.

I don’t really see why it would serve any sort of purpose either… /deaths /age are both somewhat useful.

Totally agree with Rauderi with a commendation system. It could be as simple as an emote function /+1"Player Name" or right click the player’s name and it would come up with “Commend” under all the other options. I think I mentioned something similar to this a looong time ago in relation to commander tags as well (with commanders that are more highly commended having something slightly different going on with their badge).

Players could then use the emote function /commendations to display “You have been commended by x players” in the chat window.

After all, it’s much nicer to find out how many people have appreciated you/your help/how you look compared to finding out how many people pretend you don’t exist :P

It’s something I’ve come to notice about GW2. There’s barely any emotes at all, and the ones that exist tend to be positive interactions between players. I doubt it would harm the game (negative in that sense), but the atmosphere they try to encourage tries to be more positive and cooperative.

Just as much, some people just like to see numbers go up. How long before some jerkface decides he must do a /dance spam marathon in Lion’s Arch to get on as many block lists as possible? :P

I don’t think there’d be any harm in putting this in, but there’s also no point in putting it in. It won’t change how people behave, and some people would probably use their blocked number as a badge of honor. :p

it wouldn’t be long before a group of clowns decided to challenge each other to see who can get the more “blocks” from others. something similar to that used to happen at gamespot and youtube and gametrailers (before they made some adjustment) there where some users who tried to see how many “down votes” they could get by making very mean, offensive, thoughtless comments.

so no, you woundt get my vote for such feature.

It would increase bad behavior quite a lot. People would start to compete who is the biggest ahole.

There was a very similar thread already about two weeks ago. I will answer as i have answered then – i see no reason to introduce “who’s the biggest kitten” counters. Getting blocked by a lot of people is not cool, especially since if you get blocked a lot, it’s almost certain to be purely your own fault. That’s nothing to be proud of.

I’d aim for 1,329,344.

Can you guys be so kind to block me? I am on 1.435.867 and my friend is at 1.435.645. I dont want him to win.
