[Suggestion] skillpoints and traits
There are many people in this fight who have made the same suggestions… and we can see how much anet has paid attention to us. Being able to trade skill points for scrolls of knowledge at a1:2 to 1:4 ratio is one I have banged on about for some time.
Oh, expect this thread to be locked or merged quickly.
80s: Necro x2, Ranger, Warr, Guardian x2, Ele x2, Mes, Thief
Whole this idea is rationale and reasonable, I reject it. I will not reason with them and hope for some sort if middle ground compromise.
They did a foolish thing. Half correcting it doesn’t actually fix it.
@Gregori i never spent much time in the thread you’ve so full-heartedly been keeping alive all these months and just finished skimming the important bits. this little suggestion was merely posted as part of a serious of tirades i’ve been screaming inwardly for too long and felt needed to be voiced in the forums, but some of your math simply angered me.
~Total skill points needed to unlock all utilities that are NOT racial: 143
~Total skill points needed to purchase all traits:
Adept: 60
Master: 100
Grandmaster: 100
Grandmaster final: 100
Total: 360~Skill points available from skill challenges:
Below level 30: 72
Between 30 and 60: 48
Between 60 and 80: 39
At level 80: 20
in WvW: 13
Total from skill challenges: 192~Skill points available from the leveling process (to 80): 75. Add skill challenges to the 75: 267.
~Amount of skill points needed above and beyond number you earn (not counting racial utilities or Mistfire wolf):
236.Engineers need 3 less for the skill points for their utilities.
(my wife did the work, I formatted it)
namely, why is it i need more Skill Points for my Traits, than for my Skills? thats just….baffling…

my problem with the system is less the effort of map completing to unlock traits, and more the raw skill point costs should i decide to take the lazy route and purchase them.
Lazy route?
How about “the only option”?
I decided I wanted to test out Read the Wind on my ranger. I ended up having to park my ranger there and checked for the event over the course of 3 days until finally the defense event came up. It would have been preferable to allow it to fail and do the assault but the defend is also supposed to do the unlock. Unfortunately that turned out not to be the case so all that waiting and checking was for nothing.
As for your SP transfers idea … I am sure they already know about it. They had that exact thing in their previous game. -_-

this is something i have only just come across as i had created all my other alts before the update… but 6 months ago i created an engi i wanted to use in pvp & wvw, so far i had only been using it in pvp, but through pvp had levelled it upto level 50+… imagine my surprise when i went to wvw and found out that if i wanted to use traits i was going to have to spend a kittenload of skill points to unlock my traits, or do a whole bunch of pve… something i had no plan of doing with this character… this seems rediculous to severly screw over people that want alts for pvp content only.
