Now that we have gliding in the game, what would be more amazing than having the old broom and magic carpet gizmos as glider skins! I know I always wanted to fly up in the air on my broom, and I do believe I’m not the only one!
What do you say?

I think that would be pretty sweet , tbh wondered about those skins too. Not sure how they would make up for the price difference – like the third gizmo which makes you dig underground, and hence it wouldn’t be fair that people who purchased the broom and carpet get a glider skin too , but the people who bought the tunnelling device don’t . Plus the fact that if we were to get 2 items from the purchase the price should be increase judging from the ones we’ve seen so far – glider only 400gems, glider+back 700gems. So what I’m saying basically, best solution would be to sell those skins separately .
But whilst we are on the topic of glider skins , I would love to see a ‘steam-punk’ style glider for my engie and PLEASE add the dragon surge visual from sanctum scramble (and some HoT story mission) as a glider – I will give you all my money

You can now buy Glider combo’s for the black and white wings which includes the back back skin.

If you purchased just the back pack like the black wings for example could this be exchanged for the combo version?

Last year, when they made the black wings a backpack/glider combo, you could speak to any scout in Verdant Brink to get the wings as a glider if you’d already purchased them as a backpack. I don’t know if this is still the case. This applied to the white wings as well.

I really like my white wings, however the physical structure of the hawk wings is much more bird like. Comparing the two, the white (and black) wings look more like an avalanche of feathers that roughly approximate wings, while the hawk wings look very bird-like. I’d like to see the white/black wings get a makeover if possible.

Second, I love the butterfly wings backpack, but I really wish that I could have a larger version as my glider skin. Dye channels would be nice too, but not mandatory. The yellow/purple theme is working for my character currently.

Have to use blink to do it basically, which isn’t quite the same. Although I shall certainly give it a go.

It’s a location that’s clearly begging for the walls to be removed.

I like the black and white wings as they are. They work well for angelic characters, whether they be heavenly or dark. I also like the hawk wings for my characters who are nature-oriented.

I would also love to see the butterfly wings in a larger glider version, and definitely with dye channels.

I’m glad I’m not the only one.

I like that it is dyable, but that is about it. The stiff tail is real off putting to me. Given the plethora of gliders available, this is an easy pass.

I bought the new Phoenix Glider skin today, and might I say I really love the design. I’m a big fan of anything that is remotely Canthan-themed, so it was a must-have for me.

However, one little thing bothers me about the dye channels. I noticed that certain parts of the glider have a rather unusual red glow to it, more specifically around the pattern (dye slot #2), and the blue stitching along the ailerons/flaps of the wings. Aside from always dyeing it red shades, this weird red outline stands out for me.

I’m not sure if this is a graphics bug or something wrong with my settings, but it’s just a little thing I wanted to point out in the event it was not part of the intended design.
If it is possible to fix, it would really make my day.

It’s not a stiff tail! Unless you want a rippling ribbon effect? It sways side to side and curves with your motion. Here is a shot of it during a Lean Techniques descent:

Do the developers of outfits and glider skins, etc. not play this game? Are they fashion challenged?
More and more the release stuff like this that, while aesthetically beautiful, has parts that are locked to one color! STOP IT.
Let the players choose the colors for the entire item. the Phoenix glider is great. Very pretty, but that blue section completely clashes with every single one of the characters I have that I’d think to use it for.

Would it have at least some kind of fiery animation effect for itx flying trails or so or its wings, then i personalyl could buy it of as a kind of Phoenix Glider …

I hope that we will get somewhen a glider, that actually really looks like a phoenix, that has similar design style as like the Phoenix Weapon Set of the Black Lion Ticket weapons with burning wings and a kind of fiery trail of flame feathers

I’m patriotic towards my home country, but I sincerely hope that is not the root of it with this item. We do not need real world politics bleeding into the game, on any level

I guess on that note, as others have mentioned, the option to dye the blue part would be welcome as well… I’m not a big fan of the lack of dye-ability on certain gemstore items, such at other gliders and outfits. As nice as it would be to be able to change the color of the blue parts, I highly doubt they’d add that option at this point… (but if they did, they would be my heroes!)

Regardless, aside from the red outlines, I still really like the Phoenix Glider. I hope for better customization in future designs.

But I think you’re loading your own preconception based on the word into your expectation on the glider with that name. Check out http://hua.umf.maine.edu/China/Chinese_kites/pages/093_Chinese_Kites.html for something called a Phoenix Kite that has a peakitten flavor rather than flames (and google for “Phoenix Kite” which is how I found that — tons of images show that this glider is squarely in the kite tradition of kites called “Phoenix.” Though yes, some are more red/fire themed).

It’s the same thing that makes my asura eyeballs red (new faces from the gemstore). For some reason, especially when the object is far from the camera, the default red colouring mask becomes visible. Applies to many armours, outfits and objects too. But this is even more glaring.

I dunno what causes this, but there’s probably a pro term for this occurrence. Also, I hate when this happens.

It’s a Chinese Phoenix. They’re more colourful and less likely to be on fire. (And according to Wikipedia actually called Fenghuang.)

Like the Phoenix and Rainbow Phoenix pets in GW1, and Ho-oh the legendary pokemon.

I agree. When I saw the name, I did expect more of a firebird— not a kid’s multi-colored plastic kite.

It’s decent but I still feel no need to own more than one Glider and Black Wings still my favorite so it’s unlikely I’ll ever buy another.

I was disappointed it was the only item added today but oh well. I want new faces added them most. (something Trehearne-ish)

I like it. Not sure if I will get it. My favourite is still the one that came with the Ultimate version of HoT. Can’t beat that lovely green smoke effect.

I would have liked a fiery phoenix too. I would buy that in a heartbeat. Still, the black and white dyed one looked nice.

Its really nice to look at. Right up my alley in general, nice detail work on the glider itself but minimal on the gaudy particle effects. Plus its dyable, which is always a huge plus because it means I can use it on multiple characters and still have a unique flavor for each one.

BUT, that sound it makes, especially when you lean forward using lean techniques… wow. I am not a fan of that, like, at all. I get that its probably supposed to sound like paper flapping in the wind, but its so loud and obnoxious. Listening to someone flapping a paper around next to my ear isn’t exactly something I’m too keen on doing when I’m playing a game. And I like to lean, like… a lot. So if I were to use this glider I’d be hearing that constantly.

This is the 2nd glider that I like based on the visuals but am very hesitant to get based on the sound effects (the other being the snowflake glider, as I don’t like that it reuses the whispering “souls” sound from the Soul River glider).

Maybe I’m being stupid, but I can’t find a way to preview this thing in game.

Without actually owning it, I don’t think you can preview it in-game at the moment. It only shows up in the Glider Skin section once you purchase it and normal preview links don’t work for gliders, nor does the store have a preview for them.

It’ll probably be changed to properly show up in the Glider Skin tab of the hero menu once the next patch goes live, which will be next week if I’m not mistaken, so you could always wait until then if you want to preview it first.

Maybe there’s an item link that will do it? I did notice that it didn’t show up in my glider skins until I bought it, though the Dulfy video had shown me what it did well enough. I think sometimes they don’t put a locked version in the Hero Panel until a while after the item is released but it does eventually show up. Likely they have different teams responsible for that. (I could be misremembering the delay effect).

I was looking for it among the other locked glider skins, yeah. And then I tried previewing from the BL shop. And that exhausted my ideas. I guess I’ll wait.

The colors somehow make me think someone is going to make a winged wonder woman somewhere out there!

Any chance that this glider will be available, without the extra outfit and such? It looked cool and I’d snap it up, but the 2k gem cost was a bit much for only being interested in the glider lol.

… needs more dye channels. At least 3 would suffice. As is the glider may fit a few of my characters aesthetically but not match in colors. The blue tail and the tan upper section really don’t work in all circumstances, and since it’s a “Phoenix” glider shouldn’t it be more red/orange/yellow than blue?

TL:DR Phoenix Kite Glider needs 3-4 dye channels pls! ^^

I wouldn’t mind that.
Got it yesterday, and was a bit dissapointed that the top of the glider maintains a redish hue, and that the colors applied are quite bright. Even a ‘Minight Red’ dye comes out as a blood red. Kind of hard to match it to other armour colours then.

As a side note, the Glider did not show up amongst the other glider skins (unlike the hawk one), and no option to preview on the Gemstore.
