I still didn’t get my gobbler or witches hat :c. I know they’re Halloween items but they haven’t been seen for a while. Surprised they never did witches hat along with the wizard during the month thing.

The witch hat was an event item NOT a gem shop one. The mad King gave it out the first Halloween. Like the title from that event it should stay exclusive. People can beg for all the old gem shop items they want but event items needs to stay off limits. You weren’t there (whatever excuse) then you don’t get the item, simple. GAME ON

They were in the gemstore for a week, starting Feb 16th. When they’ll return is unknown.

The two main items we need to see back are easily the Aviator Sunglasses and Wide Rim Glasses.
Neither has returned since 16 Dec 2013 which is waaaayyyyyy too long. </3

I believe the first one has returned since they got discontinued in 2013, but I missed them, because I did not play at that time. The wide rim glasses are a whole other story, I really don’t understand why they haven’t been brought back a single time, I constantly see people asking for them. What’s that about?

I also agree, the glasses would be nice to have back- it was a nice thing to have and I never got them before because they were… well Town clothes but then they made them into armor skins and I was kinda sad lol.. SO Glasses plis and shanx!

Electromagnetic glider…I did not buy because I felt I would never be good enough to glide. How things change…currently, I am at Gliding 3 and am very mad at myself for not buying the wings on the off chance that a miracle would happen and I could use them.

I need the unicorn finisher so bad! Bring it back

Does anyone know the last time the festive hat (Santa hat) was on the gem store? Is this item only on the gem store during Wintersday or is it in rotation as well? I’m hoping I don’t have to wait till next Christmas to get it.

As far as I recall, it’s only ever sold during Wintersday.

I snagged mine last Wintersday (after waiting a year) because I have seen some cool uses for it outside of it as a festive item. I’ve seen a couple of neat Link (Legend of Zelda) cosplays that use it, for example.

Thanks for the comment! And yeah I’m actually going for a Link cosplay hahaha. Wish I could attach my armor previews for it (I have a heavy and a medium set picked out) but I’m on my phone right now. Next month will be the half way mark till Christmas so I’ll try and be optimistic that anet will put it back up.

I know we have the massive amalgamation of suggestions for what should be introduced into the gem store and what should be returned to the gem store, but support has suggested on numerous occasions that making a thread is the best way to reach the devs (as if this won’t just get linked to the mega-thread about gem store suggestions).

Here’s the case for the Wide Rim Glasses and every other cosmetic item from before we were able to use ‘town clothes’ as armor skins: Wide Rim Glasses and many other items were introduced as purely town clothes. They were meant to be something which would only be used in cities and in lobbies around Tyria. You could not PvP or WvW with any town clothes, so a large majority of players didn’t see a purpose to buying them.

These items were retired from the gem store close to 4 years ago now, I’d imagine, and for the most part we have heard nothing except “if we release all the items, those who already have the item will lose the prestige of the item.” Wide rim glasses, for example. I’m gonna have to call bull kitten on that one. Find me more than a handful of people with something like Wide Rim Glasses who would be annoyed that they returned to the game. The entire functionality of the item has changed. It’s not an armor skin that is not only locked to new players (hello, new revenue), but it is also locked to old players who originally saw no need to invest in something as mundane as town clothes.

Again, I’m really not expecting much to come from this thread, but it’s been a while since we’ve actually heard anything. When I was discussing it with support, I received a range of replies from “the item will be returning to the gem store” to “we don’t know if it will return” to rumors that some people have managed to get their hands on the witch’kitten and the wide rim glasses through other means. The big thing that stood out was that apparently devs actually 1) read these threads and 2) might introduce items back to the gem store if we raise enough of a fuss about them. Maybe reddit would be a better place for this, idk.

Edit: rip my first edit to the post, but here it is again: This is really not going to entice people to return to/stay with the game, but there’s a whole heap of suggestions rotting away in that thread and recently we’ve been getting a lot more polls to help the devs keep up with the desires of the community, I fear that the thread will end up in the dumpster alongside so many other things we’ve already been told will come back. For example: Tribal PvP armor. I think it was Hugh who said there would be a way of earning this armor, and that was at least a year and a half ago. Then there are the other town-only skins which have now become available as regular skins, provided that you had the skin prior to this change (except for the bunny ears and maybe something else). Again, not gonna make me play any more than I already play (which isn’t as much, at this point, the fashion wars have been lost and I’m not as motivated), but it’s a stream of revenue that should be simpler than any other revenue stream that would apparently be in the works (hello expansion 2).

I think the Devs likely look to the ‘Official’ thread for suggestions, and/or how popular an item might be if it were offered, once again.
