I’ve got a couple of suggestions for new chat commands.

/zen – puts your character into a floating lotus sitting position and keeps your character from being attacked. Not usable if you are already in combat mode. Pet on ranger is put away. Useful for when you step away for a few minutes.

/fetch – Allows player to play fetch with mini-pets using a targeted ball throw.

Make a challenge of maps instance closures. Disable all new events, kill respawn, turn all friendly NPCs into enemies and activate all NPCs to attack mode. The challenge would be for the remaining players to clear the map and harvest all nodes before. Give a group reward for clearing NPCs and personal reward for clearing all nodes.

No thanks. What’s to stop someone from tagging an event, getting OOC, and then using that emote to leech the rest of teh event and get loot for absolute minimal effort?

What’s to stop them from doing it at any event. The fewer people left on the map would require more of an effort to clear every NPC on top of each person having to clear every node themselves. People doing nothing would just ensure the event would fail. Also just like some events have the players have to actually make a threshold of kills to join the event and if they stop killing the system drops them from the event. With no respawn of NPCs they couldn’t just stay in one spot and kill the odd thing because there wouldn’t be anything there. The players would have to keep moving.

Aidan is talking about the /zen command, not the map closure challenge.

I think the map closure idea, while interesting, misses the point of the “volunteer to change maps” bonus. Anet wants as many people as possible on crowded maps, which is why they offer you a boon for switching maps. If they turn map closure into a challenge mode, they’re working against that goal, encouraging people to stay on increasingly empty maps for a long time, instead of pushing them to populated maps.

Mini-pet fetch does sound like fun. Might make for a cool gem store toy, especially if they include a dog-like mini that can be replaced by whatever your active mini is.

/Zen should set participation to zero for events they are tagged in. If it’s such a non-emergency that you have time to put in a chat command, you have time to get to a safe spot to afk for a minute.

I wonder what kind of scaling abuse /zen could cause. If paused players don’t contribute to scaling, they might be able to gather around, /zen as a group until an event starts, then drop into combat against an unscaled encounter. If they do contribute to scaling, you have the same problem AFK players already cause, but without any threat at all to them.

It walks a fine line between interesting and unnecessary, I think.

On the subject of new emotes, I want one that’s appropriate for acting like you just took a lot of damage. Or even an outright /die.

Some maps get difficult to find a safe spot when you need to go aft for a few. I’m sure more than a few players thought they were safe and come back to find their character down. Of course it would need to take them out of any reward for events. It would also prevent other players from having to revive afk players only to have them go down again.
