I didn’t invent this, but I came across it.

Like many others, I was looking to res someone to comeplete my daily. I noticed on my mini map all these dead people in one small area. I went there and it was at a vista that had a very high elevation….jumping from it will kill ya.

Aparently people were taking there turns jumping and dieing so others could res. Long story short, got my res daily in about 5 minutes. lol…I did my part and jumped several times myself.

The whole thing was very comical. You stand at the bottom…plop,plop,plop…..dead bodies to res…….

Healer can also be achieved quickly in the Thaumatova Reactor in Metrica Province. Also, there is a wide variety of very easy to kill mobs, so you can get variety/quantity/dodge quickly there too. Heck, you might even get a few events in too while you’re there.

Although it is convenient for people in a hurry to go to work/school, I would consider that my first choice in how to do my Dailies.

You can complete the Daily Healer task by reviving NPCs, and dungeon runs are much more productive, since people genuinely get downed pretty often.

Not talking about you in person, I’m sure it was too tempting to pass up, but it just goes to show the mentality of the KIDS playing the game today.

It’s one of the easiest daily’s to do EVER, go rez some NPC’s or just go in almost any dungeon or events and by the end you will have 10 revives.

Most of the new daily’s can be done by just playing normal, why do people have to complete them in a way that makes them hard work, this is why people complain about so called grind, just play!!! :P

It’s pretty sad, sometimes, listening to people freak out about the new dailies and what a hard time they’re supposedly having with them. Honestly? Unless you’re running short on time, you can basically ignore some of them and they’ll get done naturally as you play the game and do what you would normally do. If you’re an average player, you will dodge, rez, kill mobs (both amount and variety), gather, and even do some events, without even consciously making a point of it. The new dailies rotation has made it easier than ever to complete.

I saw a couple of people deliberately killing themselves today, just for the rez daily. It was kind of pathetic, but I guess there’s no harm in it if that’s how they want to spend their time. I dunno, maybe ArenaNet should adjust the achievement so that it doesn’t count if you rez the same player more than once every 1 or 2 minutes?

There are NPCs who practically kill themselves, because the DE/heart quest require you to revive them, so it’s necessary that they’re regularly available to be revived.

Surely you would know this if you had done 100% world completion.

Some Most of the complaints about these new Dailies are idiotic, but what’s even more moronic is the lengths that people go to get them so that they can get on with their game. The only effort I have ever had to go to to get any Daily was to leave Orr and kill critters on another map… which is what every single player that has been in Orr has had to do since launch.

Hell, I’ve been away since the Lost Shores event, only coming back two days ago, and I have 33% of my Monthly done. I could finish it tonight if I could be bothered (and I still might, just not sure how long 7 fractals will take), and I could certainly finish all but the fractals in under an hour with the only effort being that I’d have to go to the jumping puzzles (four of which I have discovered just through normal playing in the last two days).

Depends on the level, but just forming seven individual fractal groups would probably take upwards of an hour itself, and runs average an hour or so, depending on the quality of the group, the individual fractal maps you’re faced with, and whether you’re running odd or even (it’s easier to find even level groups, but even level fractals take longer).

… I don’t even…

You don’t even have to try in order to complete this one. I mean if you play WvW, players are downed constantly; do some events in Orr and you’ll get it done; just explore and you’ll find random npc’s downed all over the place without even the need to get them killed; dungeons are a guaranteed way to complete it too. It’s actually doesn’t save any time.

You just have to play the game: explore, raid dungeons, defend your home server; just play the kitten game. It’s something you can easily get as you do other things in game; apparently that’s too difficult for some people…

Well, if that’s the way they want to experience the game then that’s fine I guess… not like it really effects me in any way other than maybe a few extra players falling out of the sky =/

This is really funny because it reminds me of some really hard vista on some map or other, I think SoD or Mount Maelsrom, where I really had to spend half an hour at the bottom just ressing people falling from the sky.-this was a couple of months ago.

It saddens me that even with the new dailies that are varied and easy people will still try to cut any corner just to avoid playing the game.
It really makes me wonder at the mentality, I don’t get why people bother playing then.
It seems to me unless some people can find a loophole, shortcut, or whatever they are not happy.
The new dailies are fun for me and I love how I see hordes of people wherever I go- just yesterday there was an actual zerg in Queesdale in the middle of the day!

The problem with the healer achievement, is that in Queensdale for instance, there are enough people rezzing the NPCs that there aren’t many dead ones. Yes. Yes. Go somewhere else. I don’t want to. It’s expensive to jump to other maps and I don’t want to waste my money on that.

As for the suiciding for the benefit of other players bit? That was nice of those players. It shows that they are looking to HELP other people. And for that, anybody who does that has my respect. OOC. IC, my character thinks they are stupid.

Whilst I agree with you somewhat – the moment ArenaNet puts something even vaguely challenging in for a daily is when the entire proportion of GW2’s mouth-breathers come on the forums and complain because they can’t do it in the time it takes their moms to come back from the store with cheeto refills.

This thread highlights a big problem with this daily achievement: it makes people play the game in a way ArenaNet does not intend. Obviously ArenaNet didn’t design this daily with the goal of making players kill themselves, but that’s what is happening. And ArenaNet didn’t design the daily so players would deliberately let NPCs die, but that’s what is happening.

This daily needs to be altered so it doesn’t encourage this behaviour. GW2 is supposed to be about players coming together with shared goals; instead we now have players at cross-purposes, some people trying to depend NPCs, others hoping the NPCs will die. This isn’t acceptable.

To the people saying ‘Just play the game’, surely you see the silliness of that argument. People are playing the game, but they aren’t getting this achievement. Maybe if doing dungeons is part of your daily activity, you will get it easily, but guess what: the majority doesn’t do dungeons every day. Maybe you play for hours on end, but the majority does not.

I played for over an hour yesterday, mainly doing WvW, and because our server was dominating there weren’t many fights happening, and when there were it wasn’t always possible to rez people before others did. So I ended up going to Queensdale and letting some NPCs die. Not the intended Guild Wars 2 experience, I’d say.

Two different events spawn there…. both of which usually result in the death of all nearby npcs (upwards of 20+ dead npcs at a time which die again almost immediately after a res)

You can res them all individually to get your daily…. OR you can tag the number of NPCS you still need (res them just for a spit second, then move on to the next)… then complete the event, and all of the NPCS will revive themselves and you will be awarded credit for fully reviving each npc you tagged.

Wow. Reading this thread, the mind just boggles… who’d have thought that players finding an amusing way of getting one of their dailies would elicit such rude responses.

Let’s see – apparently only “KIDS” do this. I’m in my 40s – I’d have done it if I’d thought of it. Kudos to those smart enough to come up with a creative way to meet this particular daily. I suspect the atmosphere among those suiciding/rezzing was probably much like the day about 150 of us spontaneously began jumping to our deaths in Wayfarer Foothills during the Beta Finale. Sorry I missed it.

What else? Oh yes – this daily is apparently making people play the game in a way ANet didn’t intend. Strange, I could have sworn that ANet was designing a game players could play their own way. Not whatever way you find acceptable, appropriate, fun, enjoyable (or whatever) for THEM to play. Why on earth do you care how someone else is spending their in-game time? If they’re finding it more fun to take turns suiciding and rezzing, or to wait for NPCs to die, why does this matter to you? I mean, I’d have told the one guy to go fly a kite if he’d complained that I ‘saved’ the NPC he was going to farm for rez’s… but otherwise, WHY are you so concerned with how someone else meets their daily requirement?

People are having fun… they’re not exploiting the game… they’re playing it in a manner they enjoy.

I typically run around either Queensdale or Wayfarer Foothills with my lvl80 ele to get my dailies. Why? Because of my personality type… or maybe my OCD… or maybe a combination of the two. Having those “in progress” is a major distraction for me. I know they’re there, I know they’re in a state of “undoneness,” and I know that I can knock them out in about 15 minutes if I just pop into a starter area. Then they’re done, and I’m not getting a somewhat stressful zing every time the little announcement pops up on the right letting me know I’ve progressed a bit more. It’s my game that I paid for… getting those out of the way allows me to then resume my normal game play and enjoy myself without feeling like they’re hanging over my head. That’s the choice I’ve made for what is the best use of MY time when playing MY game.

Why should how someone else chooses to allocate their playing time be so problematic for some of you?

Don’t take it personally. Some people are idiots. It’s not personal, they just can’t help it.

I saw some kitten berating a new player yesterday at Diessa Plateau for the exact same thing. Since I happened to be on my lvl 80 fully exotic Necro doing the new living quest thing, I obviously did the only right thing: proceed to mock the idiot and AoE every living thing near the NPC till he kitten off, flipping him the metaphorical finger. And then we all had a laugh… Except the idiot. He was kitten which amused me to no end.

@OP: Whatever floats your boat really. Honestly I haven’t seen the need for it. The daily quest is small enough that I get it while just doing my “normal business”. Doing dungeon runs, going around Orr, attending [Group Event]s, or just walking around the world really… People inevitably make mistakes. Everyone does. Given that an alarming number of people seem to build glass cannons almost exclusively, they also tend to die a lot. Seriously, just go through some events in Orr and you’ll see people drop like flies. Or do some dungeon runs. If you don’t give half a kitten about the dungeon and just want the achievement I recommend Arah.

That said, if you just wanna grab a friend and trade some leaps of faith then go ahead. You’re certainly not hurting anyone. Play however you please.

Have you considered that maybe they want to do the daily in a limited amount of time? Perhaps they don’t have the time to do a dungeon and they want to get the daily as efficiently as possible.

What is far more amusing is that you’re letting the way someone else plays, bother you – and in no way does it affect you. Are you some kind of gameplaying hipster? “I get my dailies the right way, the way God himself intended”. Who the hell are you to point fingers at the way others play? Get over yourself.

I can’t speak for anyone else, but I can tell you that in my entire time playing, I have done exactly one dungeon. Once.

I get my dailies done quickly, in Queensdale or Wayfarer, because they mentally “nag” at me if I don’t. I know that in either of those two places I not only know where to go for the events and such I need, but I can get them finished quickly.

Want to know what I do after that? I go back to whatever area I am currently completing to 100%. My current area is Fireheart Rise. I have done every single area “below” that, level-wise. Making my way through the entire world, slowly, was important to MY enjoyment of the game. I have not been to Orr or the Cursed Shore or wherever else it is that so many others are doing their thing.

My husband is doing the same thing with regards to map completion. When it comes to the dailies, he logs on at night just long enough to get them done as quickly as possible. He has other things he wants to spend his time on… but he obviously wants to earn the rewards for the dailies, even though the only chance he has to play at any length is on the weekends. So on week days, he does as I do – quickly knocks them out of the way in Wayfarer. Also like me, he’s done one dungeon. Once.

Perhaps you might revisit your assumptions about why people choose how to play THEIR game and spend THEIR time. Unless they’re trying to force you to do as they do, I can’t imagine why you would care.

And herein lies the problem Fractals should not be included in the dailies or the monthly. Simply put if you opt out of Fractals your PVE is then limited because you can’t complete these quests which is yet another exclusion tactic meaning the new currency is tied to Fractals as well. The same is true of WvW it impacts on PVE exploration. So much for “other ways” to get Ascended and so much for play the game your way lol.

Sorry but there is nothing smart about it at all, it’s a solution only someone with very low IQ would come up with, any normal player would have completed the rezzing daily less than a hour with NORMAL playing.

As for killing NPC so that they can rez them, why should people not complete let say guard events because one person wants the NPC dead, i would protect him if that was me.

This is what I mean by KIDS, this was yesterday in Orr, so yes it does affect others when these players start spamming crap, its rude and shows there age.

I think the monthly achievement is per Fractal (ie, per mini-dungeon, 3 or 4 in a run depending on if you’re doing an odd or even) and forming a Fractal pug takes 5 minutes if you don’t really care what level you want to run (gw2lfg.com says hi!).

It’s expensive to jump to other maps and I don’t want to waste my money on that.

You wouldn’t pay between 2-3 silver in order to go to a spot where you can finish it faster?
