Any news on the next big quarterly update?

Nope.

Sorry to be so glib, but they haven’t said much about when it will be or what it will contain. I think the general expectation is that LS3 will likely start in earnest around the same time, but I can’t think of any official announcement to that effect, and it could be totally wrong.

I thought they said it LS3 wouldn’t start till after Raid Wing 3 was out.

They will probably emulate the way the last patch dropped. Whilst I’m not a fan of not hyping up forthcoming content/features, it seemed fairly clear people were pleased with the size and surprises of the spring quarterly and that their method worked successfully.

We might get a tiny prelude blog to ls3, but realistically I suspect they will continue with the policy of surprising the playerbase on release day.

While I wouldn’t mind some news on the upcoming changes, the hype train has been left behind at the station. I’m not sure which I prefer, now that I think about it.

I did find a post on page five of the “Dev quotes from Reddit” thread mentioning they might bundle LS3 with the next (summer) quarterly update. I guess that’s relevant.

The quarterly update last hit in April. So the next one should be mid July if they can stay on track. I initially thought the 3rd Wing was coming out today, unless that info was about the teaser/preview.

If we are lucky we get some teasers or trailers during E3.

But after 8 must months of no story or non raid PvE content, it had better be epic.

Quarterly means every three months or so. We got one in January, one three months later in April, so it seems reasonable to expect the next one in July (three months after April). They don’t have to wait for the anniversary. Heck, last year’s anniversary didn’t have much happen to mark it.

Yeah there’s more of a fuss in GW1 about the launch date of GW2.

With the next Raid wing starting next week, the next quarterly update likely in July and these micro content drops we’ve been getting every two weeks or so … I’m going to guess LS3 will start with the next quarterly update. We know that episodes won’t be dropping every two weeks so maybe once a month.

I surely hope they will release it in July and not in August or September.
I am however looking for some more information on its content. Some sneek preview or points that they want to tackle.

My biggest concern is about Living Story. I mean, what will this patch contain if not the living story?

Hopefully some exciting changes for Guild Halls and scribing again, along with something to do that doesn’t leave me bored and filling up our Guild Hall with basic shrubs!

Would be nice to get a teaser or something, a blog post of some things to expect. But I’m assuming their last update went well with no communication so they likely won’t do anything this time around either.

I don’t know what Arenanet’s strategy is against other mmo’s, but I’m wondering if they aren’t going to try to push somekind of major content off until Legion releases to compete. I know Blizzard did that frequently back when they actually cared about their game. Haven’t played Guild Wars long enough to know their trends yet.

We all know that we are getting LW S3 (and with that new locations) on this update. But is that all we are getting? Do you guys think/hope we might get something else? Some ideas: the new fractal, a new summer festival, a miniature quest, new Mastery track.

We do!? Is there some announcement or page I can peruse? Do you have a link?

I know we are expecting LW Season 3 to be released soon, but I didn’t know it was positively coming with the Summer update, nor that there are new locations/maps.

I’m hoping we get Queen’s Gauntlet back. I wasn’t around last time it was here, but I have heard nothing but good things about it and have heard a lot of players that experienced it talk about how much fun they had doing that content. Would love the chance to participate in it myself

Whilst it is looking unlikely we will see it again, despite that year where festivals were being laid down specifially to be able bring them regularly…Queens Gauntlet remains probably one of the best festivals GW2 has done. I really hope we see it a 3rd time for vets and newcomers alike.

Content doesn’t just miraculously materialize the week before. They have stated that they won’t announce anything until it’s essentially ready and planned for release. A lot can change between now and a month from now. They could plan to release something with the summer update but circumstances could arise that prevent them from doing so.

This also limits the number of people who don’t understand the difference between a plan and a promise and assume everything that Anet plans is a promise. When plans change they’re all like “Anet broke their promise!” when it was never a promise in the first place. Anet learned that lesson back in 2013.

What you say is true, but come on, it’s LW content, they know what’s happening. They could give us hints of what we’ll be doing, where we will be going. Currently the focus of the raid is white mantle, and with the little PvE events, everyone is thinking we’ll be fighting the mantle. So if that’s not the case, ANet needs to tell us, or there is going to be a storm.

The provision line thing you’re talking about is already in the game. It’s the wvw provisions master thing. Lets you buy HoT stuff at the Heroics Notary.

i use that word (summer) dubiously considering its winter here where i am but yeah just wondering if we have (or if any devs read this could get :-) ) a date for when the next quarterly update will happen

No, we don’t. However, the Winter and Spring updates happened on the day the PvP league ended so there is a decent chance the Summer update will be here next tuesday.

I’m expecting this month or the next to give Summer, or am I completely wrong on expecting it?

Should be next week, after the pvp season ends I should think.

Tuesday is a good bet, as the previous releases immediately followed the end of the PvP season. If not Tuesday, it’s likely to at least be this month.

12th or the 26th is my guess. 12th is 12 weeks after last one which was 12 weeks after the one before that. 26th would be 26 weeks after the winter one.

So I took a break from the game.
Wondering if they have new content that would draw me in or is it pretty much going to be raids only?

Well, raids are the only thing they’ve actually produced. All the rest is promises and assurances. Oh, and cancelled content because they realized they’d overreached.

They claim that they’ll put out content less frequently buy it’ll be of a higher quality with more depth (although that wouldnt be hard given how poor it currently is).

Basically, the other 90% of the population are hoping all those other teams (Fractals, PvP, WvW, etc) can produce some actual playable content, and of a reasonable standard quality.

And we continue to wait.

But this is all old news and already implemented in the game. I’m got a craving for new information. And the only cure is more cowbell… er, I mean, a preview of the upcoming updates.
