If/when is it coming back!? I know SAB can be polarizing, but I would love to hear some news on my favorite content to date. I don’t know if it can be implemented as a part of the current Living Story, but I hope we don’t have to wait until S2 is over.

If it does come back (I’m assuming it does at some point) hopefully when all worlds are have been released it can be a more permanent fixture in Rata Sum. Moto deserves it!

I don’t understand why SAB isn’t permanent. The community is desperate for permanent content, and it’s literally just sitting there, turned off.

The whole “polarising” thing, while true, makes no sense either. If you don’t like it, don’t play it. They are going to keep developing on new worlds either way, so turning off the ones already made takes up no developing resources.

The other argument “people get bored if it’s always there” also makes no sense. The “bored” people will come back when a new world is released (or a new meta achievement), exactly as they will when it gets turned off.

Please, please turn it back on for those of us who would enjoy playing it more than one month a year (if that’s even the plan).

This is to say nothing of the “infinite” continue coins that people spent real world money on, and have sat entirely useless for nine months.

Yup, as the owner of an infinite continue coin, I’d love for this to be permanent, so I could get more skins for my asuran mesmers techno look, I only managed to get staff, scepter, and torch back then.

id like the idea of the enemy grows and the players enjoying themselfes in the SAB and when they come back …
things have changed… xDD

but that is probably just me searching ALWAYS for ways they could implement the SAB in osme way into the living story :-(

well… season two first episode was really nice and i assume episode two will be awesome as well
(just the vines changing near some waypoints or location of a suspect centaur..)

and since the actual storytelling improved over time..
i could live another two months without the SAB

and im AGAINST permanent sab
id love it to be there twice or three times a year for two to four weeks
and come back in time
even if there is no new world..

I did hear one of the devs say that Josh made the jumping puzzle in Dry Top. He certainly does have a specific skillset doesn’t he!

I hope the rumor you heard of world 3 being almost done is true. Although I was under the impression we would be getting both of the last two worlds 3 and 4 with the next SAB release and it would be the final one. Maybe I’m mistaken, and if they’re still not done with world 3 after over a year I would hope I am!

Every time I open my bank and see my Infinite Continue Coin I get sad. I can’t wait to get back in there and I really do hope it becomes permanent, but only when it’s all done.

I think because this person likes the idea of it being something fresh and new every time it appears. Permanent content gets boring quickly and abandoned by the player base.

The same would be true with SAB. Right now, it’s big news BECAUSE it’s not always around. Make it permanent and it just becomes another zone that people grew tired of.

I would love to see SAB make a comeback ASAP. I love the idea of episodic updates, but temporary content that “expires” after two weeks is absolute baloney.

“Oh, but people will get tired of it after a while…”

First of all, don’t presume to tell me how I would feel about it. I missed World 2 of SAB completely because I wasn’t actively playing GW2 at the time. I certainly can’t be “tired” of content I never got to see, and non-existent content does nothing to add value to the game.

Second, who cares if SAB isn’t the most popular activity if there haven’t been any new areas for it in a while? It’s not harming anything. A few people will still enjoy it at their leisure; isn’t that enough? It’s not like there’s anything in there you need a group or zerg to complete. It doesn’t have to be the new, cool thing for people to enjoy it. Players will still return to it en masse when new areas are added.

Third, there is no reason SAB can’t remain relevant or appealing in the long-term. Let people complete an SAB level for their daily achievements. Add a couple of guild missions that take place within SAB. Heck, make an SAB Fractal that players can optionally throw into their random mix if they want. This stuff only becomes stale if you let it become stale. It’s no different from any other area on the map. Do you go to Dredgehaunt Cliffs every day? No? Well, better remove it from the game, then!!

I don’t understand how elusive the idea of Super Adventure Box being an actual game could be. When I spoke to Moto, I could swear he specifically mentioned that it’s still being worked on. Like it’s in alpha testing, so accessibility would come and go.

I’m anxious to discover the activities of the anomaly.
Not entirely thrilled to revisit the sadistic World 2, but I still love that I figured out the gong puzzle.

I was expressing sympathy, not condescension. I’ve made plenty of gem purchases, and I think Josh Foreman (SAB designer) is exceptional. But I’d be extremely unhappy if I purchased something in the gemstore that was rendered useless for the better part of a year.

I guess I’m just entitled, because I don’t believe in making donations to a for-profit business.

So… let me amend that statement, and see if it suits you better.

I feel bad for people who bought the infinite continue coin with the expectation that SAB would reappear at regular intervals and now feel like it was a waste of their money. I don’t feel bad for people who are totally happy to have that coin sitting in their bank, looking pretty and gathering dust.

Is that better?

I realise you weren’t actually forwarding this as your own view, but I simply don’t agree. SAB isn’t big news because it’s temporary, it’s big news because it’s fun. It’s like the first world of Super Mario Bros. That’s still fun now, and it’s been permanently available for decades. Moreover, imagine if every time you completed it you were working towards unlocking a shiny Guild Wars 2 skin.

I view SAB more like I view PvP than say, the Crown Pavillion. It’s an alternative game mode, with alternative skills, and an alternative focus (not least, as actually challenging and rewarding solo content). I don’t want to play SAB every day, but I want the option to play SAB every day. I estimate that I would play it probably once a week if it was available (Available every day that is, none of this rotation stuff, that puts me off playing activities even when I want to.)

Well, my personal view on SAB is that I’m not particularly fond of it. Whether it’s temporary or permanent really doesn’t matter to me. I’m probably not going to like it much either way.

But I do have a pretty good idea about how MMO players are. They get bored of content very quickly. The easiest (not necessarily best, mind, but the easiest) way to keep them talking about a certain content is to make it not always available. It keeps them anticipating, rather than just shrugging, “Oh. They’re still doing stuff for that boring place?” after two years.

It’s a pretty cheap psychological trick, but it’s quite effective, especially if the content isn’t “essential” to game play.

Here’s what I think they should do:

Release worlds 3 and 4 in limited runs, like the first two, but after all of it has been released, create a gem store item that gives you permanent access to it (or use the golden continue coin for that).

I don’t understand anyone who is opposed to SAB. It’s not like you have to complete it in order to access your bank or traits or anything… it’s just a part of the game. It’s like… like… objecting to the mere existence of… well, anything in game. The crab toss. Dredgehaunt Cliffs. Vizier’s Tower. Sapphire dye. Belcher’s Bluff. 5 karma vendors who all sell the same stuff standing next to one another. Copper ore. Salvage kits. I don’t see anyone raging about the fact that these things exist in a persistent fashion in the game. What is it about SAB that evokes responses like this? There is literally no reason you have to even think about doing SAB if you don’t want to.

Probably because they suck at it as it takes a modicum of skill., or you can’t do it as a train or zerg (which is all most people seem capable of these days), or they complain for the sake of complaining, take your pick.
I, on the other hand, can not wait for its return.

I guess it’s a little of a dilemma for Anet. They made something as a joke and it’s likely the most popular element of the game. It even won a price for best addition to an MMO last year. Anyway, I think they will put it in some time when they are in-between some patches. And as it’s just the start of season 2 I think it might still be a while.

Well, i don’t like SAB because the achievements they made just require you to jump again and again in it. Living Story make more sense to me. We don’t like to do the same thing again and again. Anet was trying to avoid kill the same boss again and again, which doesn’t let feel like being a hero. But I think let you to do the same jump again and again is even worse.
Yes, I didn’t do much active in SAB last 2 release of them. But if it will cost another 1 release for it, and I don’t want it happen. More living story release make more sense.

I’m against it, but not because of the oh noes jumping puzzles, and having skill has nothing to do with my complaint at all. What bothers me about the SAB is that my experience in the world of Tyria has to be littered with 8-bit pets and 8-bit weapons, each with that 8-bit annoying sound.

If I wanted to play a 2013 version of Donkey Kong, then I would expect to find 8-bit icons and sounds, but I chose to play a MMORPG, hence I want none of that.

Damage has been done at this point, so I just try to ignore the 8-bit kitten now, but honestly, I would have preferred they kept the items and pets exclusive to the box.

To all those that enjoy the SAB, more power to you, I have guildies that drool over the thought of it returning, I however just wish they had done it differently for an April Fools joke that went to far IMO.

I am not against jumping puzzle either. The other a lot of jumping puzzles in game are really fun. I really enjoy doing them. But don’t set something that require you to do the same jumping hundreds of time to gain, SAB was doing it thats y I don’t like it. I like to take the challenge to finish a jumping puzzle, but not farm the jumping puzzle.
