Q:
Support Class???
Guard offers quite a bit of buffing capability, as they’re also the only class that reliably offers Aegis, one of the best buffs IMO. You also get symbols that if traited right can offer healing capability (not a lot), as well as one of their heals which heals people directly in front of you. If you work with a nice dedicated team, you can really hammer out your party tactics to where they always stand on the opposite side of the mob from you and your heal can hit them while you tank.
The new elite spec ranger (Druid) is a fairly dedicated healer class, though I don’t remember how much buffing it actually generates.
That said, this game isn’t really about having a dedicated support character in the traditional sense. The guardian is a heavily armored character that does offer a good amount of support, but its not a class you really sit in the back and support; you’re a tank that can also heal and support. All characters kind of specialize in a wide variety of things, and you use your gear and traits to focus it in a certain direction. Mesmers (time warp, alacrity, etc), Elementalists (healing, blinds, might generation, field generators, etc), Warriors (banners and might generation); even rogues (blinds for days!) all give a fair amount of support as well, really letting you fill almost any role with any character. It’s one reason you’ll probably come across difficulty getting a straight answer to your question.
Sadly GW2 has nothing such as real healing like in other MMOs, but I kinda made it work with my Guardian at the cost of not doing as much damage as others.
My combination is sentinel armor with cleric weapons and trinkets.
Trooper runes and water sigil round it out.
I am going with mace and focus always spamming my symbol which not only heals, but also gives a regeneration effect.
You could also go with soldier armor for more damage, but since I wasn’t interested in doing damage as a supporting char, I chose sentinel, making me way more tanky.
I also tried full cleric, but that didn’t work out the way I wanted. My heal was over the top, but I just died way too fast because my heal couldn’t keep up.
Has its places in WvW but for PvP and PvE support and heals put you at a disadvantage since healing and buffs don’t calculate into event completion. Druid even had to be reworked a bit for added DPS because the games system only acknowledges DPS. Furthermore healing power and boon duration need an overhaul or even a merger.

apart from tequatl zergs I have not noticed on my druid any issue to get gold from any event even playing staff/mostly healing people…..
right now I’m confused how it works and whats is and what is not counted toward completion….

Not sure but I remember them stating they were going to up DPS for Druids after the initial Beta. I can’t find the statement or anything that shows they went through with plan maybe someone reading this can clarify as I can’t find the post since search function is still buggy for forums. But that might be why your pulling the DPS numbers to still get credit from normal events yet not the larger ones like teq.
Not 100% how it calculates either but I do know from the last time I attempted heal if I don’t hit the mob with DPS I don’t credit get all.
